Heartstopper fans have a reason to rejoice because the show's season 3 now has an official release date. As per Netflix's announcement on May 13, 2024, and Tudum on July 8, 2024, the highly anticipated third season of the show is scheduled to arrive on October 3, 2024.
As for the show's plot, it is expected to pick up where it last left off in season 2, with Nick and Charlie trying to express their feelings to each other. Towards the end of the season finale, Nick and Charlie were seen engaging in a heart-to-heart conversation with the former almost dropping the L bomb towards the end, before Charlie had to cut the call.
In the next scene, the audiences get a glimpse of a jovial yet hesitant Charlie typing "I love you", with his finger still lingering over the send button before the episode ends abruptly.

Heartstopper season 3 is expected to have 8 episodes
Heartstopper season 3 is scheduled to arrive on October 3, 2024 on Netflix. As per a post made on its official Instagram page on September 4, 2023, the first episode of the season is titled Love. It is written by Alice Oseman, who is the show's creator as well as the writer and illustrator of the graphic novel and webcomic series the show is based on.
Heartstopper season 3 is expected to have eight episodes, following the pattern of the previous two seasons. Some fans speculate that the season might be divided into parts, as seen in other popular Netflix shows in the past, but there are no official reports to confirm this at the moment.
What will Heartstopper season 3 be about?
Heartstopper season 3 is expected to pick up right where season 2 left off. Viewers will have to wait for the episodes to see if Nick finally ends up sending the "I love you" text.
If he does indeed send it, the audience could see a whole new side of Nick and Charlie's relationship as the two try to navigate their way through it. In case he doesn't, it will yet again allow Nick and Charlie to explore their relationship in ways they haven't previously. However, going by the first episode's title, there are high chances that Nick will send the "I love you".
Creator Alice Oseman spoke to Netflix's Tudum on July 30, 2024, and briefly touched upon the key points of Hearstopper season 3. She said:
"Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3"
She continued:
“While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up."
She also added:
Mental health, sex, university ambitions, and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”
Are there any new actors joining the cast of Heartstopper season 3?
Heartstopper season 3 will feature at least four actors in characters that will allow the show's plot to move forward. Notable among them are Jonathan Bailey as Jack Maddox (Charlie's celebrity crush), Hayley Atwell as Diane (Nick's aunt), and Eddie Marsan as Geoff (Charlie's therapist).
Also making an appearance on the show this season will be Darragh Hand who will play Michael Holden (reported love interest of Charlie's sister). Jensen Clayden will be making an appearance as Oliver Spring (Charlie and Tori's cousin).
Before the arrival of Heartstopper season 3, you can catch up on seasons 1 and 2, which are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
