ABC's High Potential episode 6, Hangover, hit the screens on October 29. It throws Morgan and Detective Adam Karadec into a tense, mystery-filled case when Metkair TechCorp CEO Elaine Barton is found dead at her party. The prime suspect throughout High Potential episode 6 is her assistant, Sam, who was found at the scene confused and unable to remember anything from the previous night.

Would Sam, doped and drunk, have killed Elaine in a moment of blind rage? Convinced that he is innocent, Morgan digs out important evidence that slowly spreads shocking truths about Elaine, her plans, and her ruthless ways to achieve her goals.

Video evidence revealed at the end of High Potential episode 6 confirms that Elaine died from a struggle at times of self-defense, thus finally clearing Sam's name.

Sam wakes up to chaos and becomes the prime suspect

High Potential episode 6 opens with Sam visibly hungover, waking in her boss, Elaine Barton's trashed office, where Elaine's lifeless body lies strewn on the floor. It is clear the office doesn't only lie in utter disarray—there are bloodstains, and a Female Innovator of the Year Award has been wielded as the murder instrument. Sam cannot recall much of anything from the night before.

She is left with little alibi and even writes an incriminating picture of herself with a knife in her notebook, thereby leaving motive. Morgan, being a nosy guy, gets suspicious of Sam's state of panic and partial amnesia. It seems apparent that she was probably drugged with Diazepam along with alcohol, leaving her amnesic and very susceptible to framing.

Gradually, it becomes evident that the murder has something to do with corporate secrets rather than an everyday workplace quarrel between two people.

Morgan and Adam uncover corporate betrayals and a mystery woman

Further investigation reveals that Elaine founded the company Metkair TechCorp and is launching a revolutionary new product codenamed Canary. The new device would be highly revolutionary with several lethal flaws, not to mention its nasty side effects.

Evidence points to a cover-up, and Elaine’s paranoia about the Canary project has led to conflict with her husband, Eric, the company’s main investor. With more searching, Morgan finds she might be holding the evidence of her suspicions. Elaine had worked under an assistant named Nina and had ordered a product named Canary.

Once she found this evidence, it led to Nina's confession that she designed the article, but Elaine went out and patented it to her advantage to make some quick money. For this reason, Elaine was also put in Nina's doghouse, but later, at Eric's request, into his bed as well, raising much more conflict. Another shocking twist is Carmen Jimenez, who is associated with the company.

She reveals that she was at the party and confesses that she was driven to the edge by Metkair's actions, particularly when Canary's health risks threatened the child. However, as angry and threatening as she is towards Elaine, Carmen reveals that she left Elaine alive and did not intend to commit a murder.

The Cheque, the mirror, and Sam's surprising break

Another significant lead is a $45,623 cheque that Elaine signed just before she died. Sam said this amount equals her remaining student loans, so Elaine was trying to bribe Sam not to leave Metkair. As Detective Karadec and Morgan reconstruct the timeline, they realize that Elaine's office contains an unusual object: a two-way mirror with a hidden camera.

Reviewing footage from the camera, they see the true series of events that night. Sam had come to tell Elaine she was quitting, but Elaine reacted angrily, trying to force her to stay. In their physical struggle, Elaine fell onto her award, dying from the injury. Sam, who had hit her head and passed out, had no memory of the incident.

How the evidence frees Sam in High Potential episode 6

The final scenes of High Potential episode 6 show Sam's exoneration in the end. The video footage in Elaine's office proves that her death is accidental and not murder since she attacked Sam, but she was defending herself as well. The team determined that Sam did not intend to kill anyone, so she fought.

Thus, the case ends with Detective Karadec and Morgan delivering the evidence, exonerating Sam. Towards the end of High Potential episode 6, they close the case, which shows the hidden corporate risks and rivalries that fueled the tragic night.

In High Potential episode 6, Hangover, a mystery unfolds through intricate character dynamics and hidden secrets within the high-stakes corporate setup. As the pieces were pieced together and the night was examined from every perspective, Morgan and Detective Karadec cleared Sam of the murder charge and said it was more of an accident.

Meanwhile, the show sheds more light on the nuances of high-profile cases: when ambition, fear, or secrecy cloud the truth in such cases, only diligent investigations can reveal it. High Potential Episode 6 is available to stream on Hulu.
