Homestead Rescue Season 12: Release date, cast, plot, and more

Homestead Rescue Season 12 returns on the Discovery Channel on October 27, 2024. The series centers on the Raney family - the patriarch Marty Raney, his daughter Misty Raney, and son Matt Raney - as they bring their expertise in the fields of hunting, building, and farming to help families live resourcefully off the grid.

The reality series premiered its first season on June 18, 2016, and has built a loyal fan base over the last 11 seasons. The show's official synopsis, as per Rotten Tomatoes, reads:

When will Homestead Rescue Season 12 air on Discovery?

Matt Raney teased fans about the upcoming Season 12 in an Instagram post dated July 19, 2024, while also revealing that the trio was busy shooting for Season 13.

Homestead Rescue Season 12 is set to premiere on the Discovery Channel at 8 pm ET/PT on October 27, 2024. The season's first episode is titled Lone Wolf and its synopsis is given below:

"As the Raneys scramble to ready their 40-acre homestead for winter, Marty gets an urgent SOS call from a fellow Alaskan. A tragic plane crash has destroyed access to his homestead across a treacherous river, and he's dangerously unprepared."

The second episode, titled Mystery of Cursed Ground, will air on November 3, 2024. It centers around homesteaders in Virginia who are dangerously close to running out of essential food and water resources. The Raneys help the families locate their missing resources and also build them their dream cabin.

Homestead Rescue Season 12's next episode titled, Maine Bog Blues, will air on November 10, 2024. With a runtime of 120 minutes, the episode highlights two homesteaders' struggles to survive amidst Maine's harsh winter conditions. Also, the Raneys are forced to find an innovative solution to the problem posed by the surrounding boglands on the homesteads.

Plot summary

Like previous seasons, each episode of Homestead Rescue Season 12 will focus on a different homestead-related issue or crisis. The Raneys will travel to remote locations to help residents find solutions to food shortages, insufficient water supply, threats posed by predators, and challenges that come with natural disasters.

The Raneys will teach these families crucial lessons in surviving in the wilderness. They will also provide hands-on training on food production, water sourcing, power generation, etc. and help them realize their dream of building a self-sustaining homestead.

At the end of each episode, the families will have to decide if they are cut out for this type of living or want to return to civilization.

Homestead Rescue Season 12 brings back the main trio of Marty Raney, Misty Raney, and Matt Raney. This season will introduce new characters in the form of family members seeking the Raneys' help in surviving and thriving off the grid.

Marty Raney is a skilled survivalist and craftsman, Misty brings her experience in farming, and Matt has honed his skills as a hunter and fisherman. With their combined wilderness skills, they travel all across America to assist homesteaders in dire need of help.

Furthermore, the show's narrator Rick Robles will likely return for Season 12 as well. The foreman Clint Morehouse, who appeared in several episodes of Seasons 10 and 11, can do the same for Homestead Rescue Season 12 too.
