The second episode of House of the Dragon season 2 titled, Rhaenyra the Cruel, premiered on June 23, 2024, on Max and it featured a kingdom in peril. Following the death of Jaehaerys at the hands of Blood and Cheese, Aegon Targaryen decided to wage war against team Blacks and Rhaenyra Targaryen. It looks like things are only going to get worse the further we go.
House of the Dragon season episode 2 focused on the Greens' reaction to the death of Jaehaerys. Given that he was the future heir to the throne, the episode saw Aegon go after his murderers, while he also decided to remove his grandfather from the position of the Hand and give it to Ser Criston Cole.
On the other hand, Cole also sent Ser Arryk to disguise himself as his twin brother Erryk, and go to Dragonstone to slay Rhaenyra. However, the brothers got into a duel of their own which saw both of them die.
In House of the Dragon season 2 episode 3, fans can expect further developments, like Rhaenyra's relationship with Daemon getting worse and how she will react to the assassination attempt made on her. We can also expect to see Aegon's anger getting the better of him, and the Dance of the Dragons beginning.
Major spoilers to expect for House of the Dragon season 2 episode 3
Rhaenyra and Daemon's relationship might get worse
In House of the Dragon season 2 episode 2, Rhaenyra wasn't receptive to the murder of Jaehaerys, considering it was Aemond's head she was after and the former was only a child. This led to an argument between her and Daemon.
She confessed that she doesn't trust Daemon anymore and that he is just using her to get back the kingdom that was originally supposed to be his. However, Daemon denied these claims and made his way to Harrenhal.
Given that the duo's relationship has been souring since season 1, we can expect the relationship to get worse in season 2. Considering that Daemon's mistake has cost Rhaenyra her reputation among the kingdoms, this is a situation that certainly won't be mended quickly.

Rhaenyra could retaliate
Considering that Ser Criston Cole and Rhaenyra already have a bad history, the attempt to murder her surely won't go down well with her. We can expect her to retaliate towards Aegon in some way and also make sure to take the fight towards King's Landing.
Currently, it also remains to be seen exactly which houses will be willing to support her considering that the death of Jaehaerys has earned her the title of "Rhaneyra the Cruel". The rightful queen appears to have difficult days ahead of her.

The Dance of the Dragons is set to begin soon
Considering that the fourth episode of the season has been titled Dance of the Dragons, we can expect episode 3 to focus on Aegon preparing for his war against Rhaenyra. The Dance of the Dragons is a civil war that takes place between the Targaryens, and given that this is what the season has been building up to, episode 3 might help build that conflict up.
As of the moment, Otto Hightower has been let go as the Hand of the King, with Criston Cole taking his place. Given that the latter is more temperamental, it might not spell much good for the Targaryens going forward.
