The fourth episode of House of the Dragon season 2 titled A Dance of Dragons premiered on July 7, 2024. It featured Team Black going against Team Green as the Dance of the Dragons officially began. The episode saw Ser Criston Cole make a play for Rook's Rest as Rhaenyra decided to send reinforcements of her own to stop the acquisition.

A lot went down in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 4. It featured not only the death of Rhaenys Targaryen but also saw King Aegon face a devastating blow when he and his dragon Sunfyre were left gravely injured during Rhaenys and Aemond's battle.

With so much happening, fans can expect House of the Dragon season 2 episode 5 to be a huge outing. From King Aegon surviving his fall to Dragonstone dealing with Rhaenys' death, a lot is to come next week.

What can fans expect from House of the Dragon season 2 episode 5?

Aegon dealing with the blow of the battle

During the battle of Rook's Rest, Aegon and Sunfyre were badly injured and sent spiraling down into the forest.

While Criston Cole and Aemon discovered him by the end of the episode, Aegon's fate was left as a mystery. However, if the books are anything to go by, fans can expect Aegon to return next week but not in the way they might have thought.

Due to Aegon being left badly burnt, he barely survives his wounds and spends most of the year in bed recovering from his wounds. While he only accepts to see Alicent and Criston Cole, while in his place, Aemond takes over the kingly duties.

Sunfyre, unfortunately, can't be carried all the way to King's Landing and makes a home in the forest nearby Rook's Rest. There, the dragons feast on the bodies of the dead who were left on the field. Given that, expect Aegon to question his position as a King further, given he has been insecure about it for a while.

Dragonstone mourning Rhaenys

With Rhaenys being the major death of this season, expect Dragonstone to mourn her. With her also being Rhaenyra's aunt, expect the promised Queen to retaliate in a huge way, given that she has been her biggest supporter yet as well.

Rhaenys' death is sure to affect Lord Corlys in a huge way too, as well as her granddaughters, who will be devastated to learn that their grandmother has died. Overall, it's going to be a sad week at Dragonstone.

Daemon at Haarenhal

With Daemon continuing to stay and rebuild Harrenhal, and his hallucinations and visions getting even more frequent, fans can expect to see him dealing with more of those.

Given that he's being haunted by a younger Rhaenyra in his hallucinations, who is confronting about him destroying her, and his actions in the last few episodes, Daemon might try to make peace with her in the coming episodes.

Fans have seen Daemon and Rhaenyra's relationship deteriorate. With Daemon confronted by the fact that she doesn't hold the respect for him that she used to, fans might get to see him try and change his methods.
