What to expect in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 5?
The previous episode of the series revolved around the Battle at Rook's Rest, where the first instance of fatal dragon combat took place.
Aegon II Targaryen and his dragon Sunfyre faced Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon Meleys. Ser Criston Cole and his army looked at the battle in the skies from the ground. When Rhaenys began to overpower Aegon, Aemond joined the fight on his dragon Vhagar.
Initially, Aegon was happy to see Aemond, but it turned to shock when his own brother commanded Vhagar to blow fire at Sunfyre. In the ensuing battle, Aegon and his dragon collapsed into the forest, while Vhagar killed Meleys and Rhaenys.
House of the Dragon season 2 episode 5 will focus on the after-effects of the battle when Aemond and an injured Aegon return to King's Landing with Criston Cole. Aegon might take some time to recover from his burns, which means the Small Council might have to discuss who rules instead of him for the time. It's yet to be seen whether Aemond suffers any consequences for attacking his brother.
Meanwhile, Rhaenyra has lost an important member of her council and a close personal family member. Apart from mourning, she will also want to retaliate. Mysaria's knowledge of the city, and Daemon's expedition to the Riverlands might prove to be useful here.
Audiences will be able to watch House of the Dragon season 2 epsiode 5 on July 14, 2024 at 9 p.m. ET.
