House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6 has sparked a lot of conversation among fans, especially with the final twist, which saw Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) get intimate, albeit briefly, with Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno). However, there was another brief cameo that caught viewers off-guard: Ser Gwayne Hightower (Freddie Fox), who first appeared in this season.
Gwayne has caught the attention of viewers with his personality and especially use of words. With words that seem to vary completely from ordinary English and with clever, subtle intonations, Gwayne Hightower's manner of speaking is now a thing for the House of the Dragon fandom.
In House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6, Gwayne Hightower was caught using the word 'salubrious,' which he used to describe Alicent Hightower's (played by Olivioa Cooke) youngest son, Daeron Targaryen. While not in use commonly, salubrious literally translates to "health-giving or healthy." He used this to tell Alicent that the young boy is alright.
The use of the word had been obsolete for decades before springing up in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6. It's safe to say that Ser Gwayne Hightower is an internet sensation ahead of the battles that await.
Gwayne Hightower resurrects an obsolete word in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6
In what can almost be called comical, Gwayne Hightower's effect on the internet cannot be overstated.
With only a single word in a single scene, Gwayne drove up the search volume of the word "salubrious" singlehandedly. It has also started several discussions on social media platforms around the world, like Reddit.
The sequence came before Gwayne Hightower was about to leave with Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel). With Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) and Alicent looking for Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), the latter goes to ask Gwayne, who also has no idea about the same.
However, Alicent also asks him about her youngest son, who was sent away at a young age. Gwayne, with his very fancy language, says Daeron Targaryen is ten and six (16) now.
He goes on to describe his condition as salubrious, confirming that the boy was in good health and growing into a fine young man. That's followed by a short, yet uncomfortable mention of the two other children of Alicent's.
What happened in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6?
House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6 followed the pattern of its predecessor and took viewers on another slow-burning ride across Westeros. The episode focused on various developments in King's Landing as well as Dragonstone.
Among the biggest things that happened, Rhaenyra tried to find a rider for the mighty dragon Seasmoke, but the experiment failed as Ser Steffon Darklyn was charred by dragon flame. However, the dragon found a new rider after flying away, as it bonded with Addam of Hull, the bastard son of Corlys Valeryon.
In King's Landing, the smallfolk finally abandoned hopes on their regent king, Aemond Targaryen, after discord over resources allocated to the poor. That led to a mass protest after Mysaria masterminded a move from Rhaenyra's side. By sending food to the smallfolk, Rhaenyra won over the confidence of the people.
However, the clock is ticking on both ends of the battle, as Rhaenyra is still busy getting the dragons ready, while Aemond plans to win the battle on land with the huge armies. The upcoming episodes of House of the Dragon will focus on more such developments.
