House of the Dragon season 2 is finally coming to an end with the release of its eighth episode on Max on Sunday, August 4, 2024. The episode, which will be released on the streaming platform at 9 p.m. ET, will put an end to all the speculation that arose as a result of the release of the episode's preview trailer on June 29, 2024, on YouTube.
Based on the things that were hinted at in the preview trailer, one of the things that the audiences could expect to see in the upcoming episode is the arrival of Daeron Targaryen, Alicent's youngest son. He is expected to turn up alongside Lord Ormund Hightower's contingent, who are arriving at King's Landing to lend their support to the Greens in the Greens vs. Blacks war.
It is unlikely that this season of House of the Dragon will emphasize the famous Dance of the Dragons war since there is just one episode left, which is not enough to do justice to the war that changed the trajectory of the Seven Kingdoms. However, if not the war itself, the upcoming episode can at least be expected to lay the foundation for the said war, keeping the rest for the next season.

A brief recap of House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7
House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7 witnessed Rhaenyra confronting Seasmoke's new rider, who is Addam of Hull, one of Lord Corly Velaryon's bastard children. She meets Addam with the intent of taking Seasmoke from him but learns that Seasmoke chose him as his rider.
When Addam was willing to bend the knee and pledge his allegiance to Rhaenyra, she devised a plan with a little help from Mysaria. With Mysaria's help, Rhaenyra sent word across the King's Landing looking for dragonseeds (illegitimate children of Valyrian blood) who could lay claim to the riderless dragons she had with her in Dragonsteen.
After several people arrived to lay claim to the dragons, Rhaenyra conducted a contest in which she exposed the claimants to the dragons to see who they naturally selected.
The first dragon to be allowed to be part of the process was the mighty Vermithor, who burned dozens until Hugh the Hammer laid his claim on him. Another dragon to receive a rider in episode 7 was Ulf the White, who laid his claim on Silverwing.
