House of the Dragon season 2 was a cursed season for Daemon, as he was mostly suffering in Harrenhall, hallucinating, while raising an army for himself to fight the Greens.
Daemon had multiple visions throughout the season; however, the most important ones are shown in the season finale, which premiered on August 4, 2024.
While some of the visions are of the future and Daemon finds it hard to understand them, the vision of the white walker, the army of the dead, and Rhaenyra finally sitting on the iron throne changes Daemon and convinces him that he must fight beside Rhaenyra for the iron throne and not for his self-interest.
Daemon's visions in House of the Dragon Season 2
After Daemon visits Harrenhal in House of the Dragon season 2, he has a series of visions, which may be because of the cursed walls of Harrenhall, Alys Rivers, or Daemon's conscience, hidden desire, and guilt.
First Daemon sees young Rhaenyra sewing the head of the prince Jaehaerys. Rhaenyra, in the vision, tells Daemon how other people have to cover up and mend for his mistakes. Daemon previously instructed Blood and Cheese to kill Aemond but they sneaked inside the Red Keep and killed a baby prince and Daemon is to blame for that.
Next up, Daemon, in his vision, sees young Rhaenyra wearing the crown, after which he chops her head off. Daemon always wanted the crown while Rhaenyra was young; however, he never became the King of the Seven Kingdoms.
Later, Daemon had a dream in which Viserys asked him if he had named his deceased son Baelon an 'heir for a day.' Daemon had a vision in Harrenhall of himself having love with his mother. In the dream, she refers to him as her favorite son and explains that he could have become king if he had been born first.
In one of his visions, Daemon again sees Viserys crying at Aemma Arryn and Baelon's funeral. In the dream, Viserys tells Daemon how much he needs him at a time like that to stand by his side. But Daemon ultimately failed him.
Daemon's visions in the House of the Dragon season 2 finale
When Daemon, accompanied by Alys Rivers, touches the Weirwood tree's face in the House of the Dragon season 2 finale, he sees several future events.
He first sees the Three-Eyed Raven, then Bloodraven, also known as Brynden Rivers, a bastard son of King Aegon IV Targaryen. The army of white walkers that Daemon later encounters in his visions confirms the existence of both the Song of Ice and Fire and the threat posed by white walkers.
Later, Daemon witnesses many dead bodies and a dragon who is dead. In Fire and Blood, this vision is linked to Daemon and Caraxes, who will burn the whole city down in the Battle Above the Gods Eye.
Daemon also dreams of his death and sees himself drowning. As per the book, he is supposed to die in the Battle Above the Gods Eye as he and Aemond fight one another. Daemon also sees Helaena in one of his visions.
The red comet in Daemon’s visions is a throwback to Game of Thrones and the return of the dragons. Daemon also sees the Dragon Queen Daenerys and her just-born dragons, Viserion, Drogon, and Rhaegal. The Red Comet also symbolizes the emergence of magic in the world of Game of Thrones.
Last but not least, the most important vision: Daemon sees Rhaenyra on the iron throne. The visions from the last episode of House of the Dragon season 2 convince Daemon to pledge to Rhaenyra, the rightful heir. He decides to fight with her and help her on her journey to sit on the Iron Throne and rule the seven kingdoms.
House of the Dragon season 2 is now streaming on Max.
