Following the release of House of the Dragon season 2's seventh episode, audiences are looking forward to the show's highly anticipated season finale, scheduled for release on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Episode 7 hinted at a number of things that audiences can look forward to in the upcoming episode, but the most unexpected one has to be Daeron Targaryen's appearance. This revelation has the potential to lead to a massive plot twist.
While speaking to the Small Council in Kings Landing during episode 7 of House of the Dragon season 2, Aemond Targaryen is briefly seen mentioning Daeron Targaryen, his younger brother. According to him, Daeron was moving with his dragon, Tessarion, in their direction alongside their uncle, Ormund Hightower's contingent.

This is a huge plot twist given that in the books, Daeron and his dragon become one of the most formidable forces during the wars between the Greens and the Blacks. As a result, his inclusion to the Green army might come in handy in tipping the war in their favour.
On the other hand, his arrival could also mean that Aemond faces competition to his position as Daeron, much like Aemond, is also one of the rightful heirs to the throne.

Daeron Targaryen is joining the Greens and bringing trouble for the Blacks in House of the Dragon season 2
House of the Dragon season 2 may be finally introducing audiences to a character who is always spoken about, but never shown. In episode 6 of the second season of House of the Dragon, Alicent was briefly seen conversing with her brother Gwayne, concerning the whereabouts of her youngest son, Daeron Targaryen.
During the brief conversation, Gwayne revealed that Daeron was at Oldtown, had turned 16 and had grown up to become a kind man. He also mentioned that he had far more responsibilities than he used to, which could be one of the reasons why he wrote less frequently to his mother. He also added that Daeron has become quite popular among the ladies.
How did Daeron earn the name Daeron the Daring?
In George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire Daeron Targaryen played a huge role during the Battle of Honeywine. During the battle, when Lord Ormund Hightower was facing defeat, Daeron arrived on his dragon Tessarion at the last moment and saved both the Lord and his army.
For his act of bravery, Lord Ormund Hightower bestowed on him the title of Daeron the Daring, which he carried until his last breath.
