Netflix is set to release a new series called How to Kill Your Family, based on an adaptation of author Bella Mackie's novel of the same name. The series will be led by popular actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who has worked on films like Dune 2. Anya will be returning to Netflix for the first time after the success of her show The Queen's Gambit.

The series revolves around protagonist Grace Bernard, who has a complex relationship with her father. He is a billionaire who does not acknowledge his daughter's existence. After the death of Grace's mother, the character turns dark with no one to turn to.

The release date for the series has not yet been announced by Netflix. However, the official summary of the show has been released by Netflix's blog, Tudum, and it reads:

"Grace is the forgotten child of Simon Artemis, a merciless billionaire. After a heartbreaking rejection, Grace decides to exact revenge. But will this deadly scheme take even more from Grace than she’s already lost?"

What is the plot of How to Kill Your Family?

How to Kill Your Family follows Grace Bernard, the illegitimate daughter of billionaire Simon Artemis. The series is based on the book of the same name.

In the book, Simon is a ruthless social climber who rejects Grace's mother after he has an affair with her. After her mother dies, Grace turns rogue and decides to channel her anger at her father who never acknowledged her. She starts killing off her extended family in creative ways, unaware that she is slowly becoming the heir of the inheritance. The series is expected to follow the same storyline.

Emma Moran, who is one of the writers on the show, spoke to Netflix Tudum about Grace's character and influence on the story:

"She’s the kind of complicated, dark, but utterly hilarious antihero you dream of writing. Striking that balance between camp fun and brutal violence that Bella [Mackie] hits so perfectly in the book is a challenge I’m so looking forward to. I’ve never had more fun on a project with such a high body count."
