Max’s Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is the first in the line of Harley Quinn spin-off projects to be released. Therefore, quite naturally, audiences are curious about how the show will set the stage for the upcoming season of Harley Quinn, expected to be released sometime in 2024.
Providing answers to these questions is the show’s developer himself, Dean Lorey, who recently sat for an interview with Collider, dated July 16, 2024.
When asked about the level of interconnectedness between spin-off shows like Kite Man: Hell Yeah! and the larger Harley Quinn universe, Lorey exclaimed that the two were connected in some ways, however in some ways, they differed.
Additionally, he also revealed that the finale episode of Kite Man will have an easter egg or several easter eggs that would give the audiences an idea of what to expect from Harley Quinn season 5. He said :
“They're definitely in the same universe. I would say that they largely exist on their own, although we do share certain things. Without giving anything away, the end of Kite Man Season 1 has a pretty good hint at what Season 5 of Harley is going to involve. But we share the characters across all of them."
He also briefly touched upon Bane's importance in the current season of Kite Man: Hell Yeah! and said:
"And Bane is a regular in this season. He's a major character.”
Harley Quinn season 5 will build up on Kite Man: Hell Yeah!
As previously stated, Kite Man: Hell Yeah! developer, Dean Lorey during a conversation with Collider, said that the show and Harley Quinn season 5 will have several convergences. Not only that, he also revealed that the show’s ending will have a huge hint about the plot of season 5 of Harley Quinn which is sure to take the audience by surprise.
He also said a similar thing during an interview with The Direct dated July 4, 2024:
"Kite-Man is not in Season 5 of 'Harley Quinn.' He's not… Look, he's above it. He's better… But I will say there are connections to 'Harley Quinn' Season 5 off of 'Kite-Man' Season 1. Kite-Man Season 1 leads into, in some interesting ways, 'Harley' Season 5."
News concerning the possibility of Harley Quinn season 5 first started to gain traction in November 2023. Although there were no confirmations back then, by the beginning of July 2024, developer Dean Lorey had already revealed his plans concerning the upcoming installment of the highly anticipated series.
In the interview with The Direct, which has been previously referenced, Lorey expressed ambiguity towards the release date of Harley Quinn season 5 and said:
"I know it's before the end of the year. I don't remember the exact date yet. But I think it's in the next few months. I know that."
Based on his comments many people zeroed in on September and October as the ideal date for release for the next installment of the Harley Quinn animated franchise.
