Ashley Madison has developed a notorious reputation over the years, but as Netflix released its latest three-part documentary, Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal, attention is once again on the infamous adultery website. The latest docu-series comes only a year after Hulu made its version of the same in 2023.
With all the hype it’s getting as of late, people are wondering how much the dating website for married people is actually worth.
While the exact worth of the adultery website has never been breached, unlike its user data back in 2015, Ashley Madison is reportedly worth at least $30 million following a LinkedIn business analysis that revealed its annual revenue.
“Life is Short. Have an Affair” dating website Ashley Madison is worth at least $30 million
The latest Netflix docuseries dives deep into the 2015 data breach scandal the website faced along with the fallout that both the company and the exposed website users have experienced.
But as controversies go, documentary viewers may be shocked to learn that the controversial website Ashley Madison is still in business to this day and that it’s actually thriving, or even growing in users and possibly revenue as well.
While the Netflix documentary, as well as the Hulu documentary before it, was aimed to expose the dark side of the dating website that was designed for married people who want to have discreet affairs, it may have given the company good press to some degree.
Being a private company, it's not required to share its value publicly, but a recent LinkedIn business analysis concluded the company’s annual revenue is at least $28.3 million. With that high of yearly revenue, the dating site could be worth at least $30 million overall, or even much higher.
Ashley Madison gained more users since the data leak in 2015
A data breach could very well destroy a company’s reputation, especially for a website like Ashley Madison's which should pride itself on keeping its user's data as private as possible. But the opposite is true for the controversial dating site ad which reported 37 million active users across more than 40 countries before the 2015 data leak scandal, which only grew over the years.
The dating site reportedly has over 70 million active members across at least 52 countries, nearly doubling its numbers almost two decades since the scandal.
According to a 2021 report shared on its website, it saw about 400,000 new signups every month on average that year. The same report shared that the company hit a 60-million-member mark back in 2019.
