The Paramount Network series Yellowstone, created by Taylor Sheridan, has become a cultural phenomenon, with its season 5 part 2 finale airing on December 15, 2024. The show started its first season on June 20, 2018. The show, led by Kevin Costner as John Dutton, explores family, power, and betrayal amidst the stunning Montana landscapes.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Taylor Sheridan purchased the historic 6666 Ranch in 2022 with a group of investors for an estimated $320 million, tying the ranch to his expanding Yellowstone universe.

The 6666 Ranch spans 266,255 acres in Texas, rendering it one of the largest ranches in the United States. Sheridan reportedly rents sections of the ranch to Paramount, demanding up to $50,000 weekly for filming.

Taylor Sheridan’s investment in the 6666 Ranch and its history

Taylor Sheridan and a group of investors acquired the 6666 Ranch in 2022, as reported by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. The primary filming site for Yellowstone is the Four Sixes Ranch, a historic property.

Since it opened in 1870, the 6666 Ranch has a long history that is rooted in Texas ranching culture. As per the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, the ranch is split into three parts: Guthrie Ranch (142,372 acres), Dixon Creek Ranch (114,455 acres), and Frisco Creek Ranch (9,428 acres).

One of its founders, Samuel Burk Burnett, was a famous cattleman who was an important part of Texas history.

In 1900, Burnett bought the 8 Ranch in Guthrie and added to his land holdings over the years. The 13,280-square-foot "Big House," which he built in 1917, still stands as proof of his plan to make the ranch one of the finest in West Texas.

After Burnett’s death in 1922, the ranch remained in the family until Anne Marion’s passing in 2020, which led to its sale as per her will.

The ranch has many buildings, including bunkhouses, a hangar for airplanes, horse sheds, and the 6666 Supply House. Due to its history as a ranch and its contributions to Texas culture, it is an invaluable property.
