The audiences were surprised by the arrival of one of the most controversial characters in Cobra Kai this season. Episode 2 of the show's sixth season introduced the viewers to Master Kim or Kim Sun-Yung whose previous appearances in the show have only been in the form of flashbacks.
Given Master Kim's history with some of the most important characters in Cobra Kai, his arrival is sure to shake things up in the series. Having said that, one particular aspect that shocked viewers upon his arrival is his existence itself.
When Master Kim last appeared in John Kreese's flashbacks, it was not before the 1980s. During that time he was visibly in his seventies or eighties with white hair and textured skin donned only by people who are around that age. His return now, after almost 40 years, implies that he has already crossed the century mark in terms of his age.

Master Kim in Cobra Kai is in his hundreds
Given the timeline of Kreese's flashbacks, Master Kim's age in Cobra Kai will not be less than 100 years. However, surprisingly enough, externally, he looks the same way he did almost 40 years ago.
Considering that he might have gone through some physical transformation over the years, the mystery behind his similar appearance at present is yet to be solved. Part 2 of Cobra Kai Season 6 could possibly delve into the details of the same when it releases on November 15, 2024.
About Master Kim aka Kim Sun-Yung
Master Kim or Kim Sun-Yung was born in 20th-century war-torn Korea when the place was still under Japanese rule. As a child, Yung had to overcome several tribulations, including hiding in a cave in a particular instance, to save himself from a couple of aggressors. His first act of violence was committed during this incident when he killed all the intruders with a knife.
Over the years, Yung's life came to be deeply affected by his circumstances. From 1945 onwards following Korea's division into North and South, Yung started gathering knowledge about and practising Tang Soo Do, a karate-based martial art form. This precise art form involves heavy usage of hand and foot including rapid hand-foot movement and co-ordination. The form may or may not include the use of weapons.
In several years, Yung mastered the art form and eventually earned himself the Master title. However, the journey from being a novice to a master was not unilinear. His karate form went through some significant changes, with the most impactful one being a change in outcomes.
While the martial art form Yung previously performed was explicitly used as a form of defense, the new revamped art form was more offensive. The new form, which was an amalgamation of two other subsidiary forms, was several notches more vicious. Additionally, it did not have any guiding principles. It was highly goal-oriented, with the goal being winning under any circumstances.
