Who was Bob Newhart?

youtube-cover

Bob Newhart was one of the most respected comedians in America whose career kicked off in the early 1960s with the release of acclaimed comedy albums such as The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart.

His early comedic routine was often a one-man show where he'd play the straight man reacting to an offscreen character's eccentricities. As his career took off, Bob Newhart became an increasingly prominent figure in both stand-up comedy and American television.

He starred in his own sitcom known as The Bob Newhart Show, which ran for over 6 years (1972 to 1978). In 1982, he was featured in another series titled Newhart, which concluded in 1990.

The ending of Newhart, which implied that the events shown in the sitcom were a dream that the titular character had, garnered significant attention upon airing. It has been referenced and parodied on several other shows to this day.

Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter features rare behind-the-scenes footage of the late comedian on set, as well as interviews with those who knew and admired him.
