What is the docuseries all about?
Face to Face with Scott Peterson follows the latest developments after the Los Angeles Innocence Project announced that they were taking Scott’s case in early 2024.
While Peterson has been convicted and is serving time, many debate on whether or not justice was served. Los Angeles Innocence Project has taken on Peterson’s case for further consideration, which has triggered renewed interest in the case.
The docuseries features exclusive conversations between Director Shareen Anderson and Scott Peterson, his sister-in-law Janey Peterson, the former Modesto Police Department lead detective Al Brocchini, detective Jon Buehler, Scott’s former defense attorney Lara Yeretsian and former ABC News Producer Mike Gudgell in the leading conversations.
Face to Face with Scott Peterson revisits the infamous American murder case of Laci Peterson and gives a chance to Scott Peterson to talk publicly for the first time in over 20 years about his perspective on the case and his conviction.
Peacock has also released a teaser and a trailer for the docuseries. The teaser features Peterson in a Zoom call from his prison, where Director Shareen Anderson begins the interview by saying:
“Thanks for talking with me today.”
Detective Buehler is heard saying:
“He didn’t want to be a dad, didn’t want to pay child support, didn’t want to pay spousal, and this is the way he thought about getting out of it"
Viewers next hear Peterson’s sister-in-law Janey. She says as she flips through photos from Scott and Laci's wedding:
"I believe my brother-in-law Scott has been wrongfully convicted of that murder. He’s been in prison since April of 2003. Scott has not spoken on camera about the case in those 21 years.”
Face to Face With Scott Peterson brings an unbiased look into the murder of Laci, bringing perspectives from both sides for viewers to decide whether justice has been served or not.
Scott Peterson was convicted of killing his pregnant wife and unborn child in 2002 but maintains his innocence. He originally faced a death sentence, but as of a 2021 resentencing, he's serving a life sentence without parole.
