FBI Agent Dale Cooper is called to look into a murder case. He discovers that Laura, a popular homecoming queen, had a hidden life with drugs and risky relationships.
As Cooper explores more, he meets some unusual townspeople, experiences strange dreams, and faces supernatural events. Laura's father, Leland Palmer, is eventually shown to be controlled by a being named BOB, which makes him commit the murder.
