British writer and actor Charlie Covell gave an update on KAOS season 2 during an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, published on Thursday, August 29, 2024. The show was released on Netflix on August 29, and has since received acclaim from viewers and critics alike.

The show has received praise from across the world, and fans have been waiting eagerly to know if there will be KAOS season 2. Covell's statement to Cosmopolitan UK seemingly gave fans something to look forward to as she claimed that she had "many ideas" about KAOS season 2.

"I've got many ideas," the creator said about the show's next season.

Covell's statement seems to underline the fact that the narrative is far from over and seemingly suggests that the characters have more intricate story arcs. The British actor-writer also said that she had a conversation with Netflix "about their inspiration for the series." She added that they discussed the "mythological easter eggs" in the show and the streaming platform's plans for "a potential season two and beyond."

However, it is worth noting that Netflix hasn't formally renewed the show for a second season, but Covell is hopeful that there will be KAOS season 2. She believes that the mythological universe has a lot more to offer its fans.

Charlie Covell also told the magazine that she had a vision of creating three seasons for the show. The British creator, known for End of the F***ing World, said that each season will expand on the history of each of the characters and their struggles for power and identity.

Covell, who is a confessed mythology buff, combined the modern components of the world with ancient stories to create an interesting yet provocative show. KAOS, described as a modern retelling and reinterpretation of a few popular Greek myths, has received praise from fans of mythology worldwide. The show follows the Greek god Zeus as he experiences a mid-life crisis and the chaos it brings to Gods and humans.

In KAOS, Charlie Covell's approach to storytelling has been praised for the way it balances ancient mythology and modern times. Apart from retelling the famous myths of Greek gods, the show also delves into the human emotions that they may have. While the first season ends with some closure, Covell is clear that there is a lot more to explore.

The creator has built a foundation for future seasons of the show, hinting at new character dynamics and plot twists. Fans can expect to see more power struggles, love, and betrayal take center stage in KAOS season 2.

Charlie also teased a deeper exploration of certain mythological figures like Persephone and Hades in the potential KAOS season 2. While their relationship was central in season 1, it may evolve further in a potential new season.

"I love them as a couple, and so that take on it was looking at the three brothers [Zeus, Posideon and Hades] and how there was competition and love and hate between them. Also, looking at the two women [Hera and Persephone] in that family and the power struggle," Covell stated.

The actor-writer also hinted at the possibility of resurrecting characters like Caeneus, a lesser-known figure from Greek mythology. This character's arc resonated with many viewers, and his potential return in KAOS season 2 would add a fascinating layer to the show’s narrative.

Speaking about KAOS season 2, the show's creator said that she had always loved Caeneus, who she called a "very small myth." She added that Misia Butler, who played the role of Caeneus, was a "fellow nerd and geek," who she became "really good friends" with.

"With Caeneus, I wanted to tell a story with a trans man [as a] protagonist, because it's interesting to me and there's a personal aspect there," Charlie said.

In KAOS season 2, Charlie hopes to keep investigating the collision between the mortal and divine spheres. She hopes that the core themes will still be the power relations between gods and humans as well as the results of their interactions.

Combining Covell's passion for Greek mythology with her narrative technique ensures that the following season will be equally interesting as the previous one.

A glimpse of KAOS season 1

The reinterpretation of ancient Greek mythology, KAOS, premiered on Netflix on August 29, 2024. Through the eight episodes, KAOS blended modern themes with the tales of gods and mortals. It honored and deviated from traditional stories, taking a major creative license.

KAOS starred Jeff Goldblum as Zeus with Janet McTeer as Hera, and Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, along with David Thewlis as Hades, and Eddie Izzard as Dionysus.

The narrative of the Greek Gods seems far from over, given the hopes that the creator has for KAOS season 2. Fans are hoping to see more complex narratives, character developments, and mythological reinterpretations in the potential new season.

KAOS season 1 is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
