Industry season 3 episode 6 shows Pierpoint on a downward spiral as it becomes increasingly apparent that their pivot into ESG investing is not quite paying off. One character going through some serious emotional turmoil is Yasmin Al-Hanani, whose father died after jumping off his yacht as she watched, too shocked to stop or rescue him.

Things get worse for Yasmin after Eric treats her to a lunch, ostensibly to take her mind off her father's death, only for it to become increasingly obvious that he's making advances on her. Infuriated, Yasmin tears into him, causing Eric to flee to the bathroom.

However, Yasmin's career at Pierpoint begins heading for an unceremonious end after Harper and Petra smell blood in the water and ask Yasmin for details about the company's ESG investments.

Once Yasmin turns over the details Petra's asking for, she's sealed her fate and gets first by Eric not long afterward.

Eric has both a personal motive and professional justification for firing Yasmin by the time he does the deed. However, Industry season 3 episode 6 makes it clear that he is far from a model manager himself.

Sweetpea Golighty's investigation reveals that Pierpoint's ESG pivot has been disastrous, with the firm on the verge of collapse. Eric's response to this is simply denial.

He tries to carry on as if nothing's wrong and even blows off Yasmin's concerns when she brings them up during lunch.

This lunch, which Eric claims to have set up as a gesture of compassion, quickly proves to have a sleazy ulterior motive.

Eric, drunk, and perhaps overwhelmed by the pressures of keeping the crumbling enterprise intact, makes a pass at Yasmin, which infuriates her. As she lashes out and calls him an a-hole, Eric ends up rushing off to the bathroom.

Yasmin makes a professional blunder that seals her fate

Eric's denials about Sweetpea's precarious state end up sowing the seeds for Yasmin's major blunder.

With Harper and Petra having discovered the truth during the previous episode, they come up with a plan to sus out the banks that have taken on debt to finance these ESG investments, and short the most vulnerable ones to make a killing.

In furtherance of this goal, Petra intentionally targets Yasmin and arranges a meeting with her, considering her a weak link she can take advantage of. Harper makes a token objection to this bloodthirsty move, but ultimately prioritizes her own interests over Yasmin's, and goes along with the plan.

By baiting Yasmin into handing over all the information she needs about Pierpoint's ESG investments, Petra seals Yasmin's doom.

Eric gets the perfect pretense to fire Yasmin for her blunder, but given the way he'd made a pass at her, as well as the role his own denials played in this mess, it's hard to believe he's really at the top of his game right now.

Yasmin and Harper have a blowout

Industry season 3 episode 6 ends with Yasmin and Harper verbally blowing up at each other thanks to everything that's happened.

Yasmin's tolerance for torment has been thoroughly tested thanks to everything she's had to deal with at the hands of her recently deceased father and Eric. This is why when Harper acts self-righteously towards Yasmin and calls her a spoiled, talentless nobody, Yasmin is having none of it.

With Industry season 3's recent episode showing the deep-seated abuse Yasmin has endured from everyone around her, it makes the circumstances behind her firing seem rather tragic, more than anything else.

Industry season 3 airs on HBO Max in the United States.
