Industry season 3 premiered on August 11, 2024. The makers have announced three episodes of the series, with a new episode airing every Sunday on HBO until the season ends.
The show saga started with following a group of young graduates who compete to get hired at Pierpoint & Co., which is an investment bank in London. Industry season 3 witnesses the entry of a new character, namely Sweetpea Golightly, played by Miriam Petche, who is unlike other graduates. She is an influencer who can handle both her passion and profession together.
Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, Industry was first released on November 9, 2020. The star cast of the show includes actors like Marisa Abela, Myha'la Herrold, Harry Lawtey, Ken Leung, David Jonsson, and Kit Harington. The new season follows the characters who deal with their problems in professional as well as personal lives.
The new character in Industry season 3 Sweetpea Golightly is a TikToker
Sweetpea Golightly, played by Miriam Petche, was introduced in the first episode of Industry season 3 when Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) arrived early at the office and saw Sweetpea filming a TikTok for her followers. Sweetpea has been hired under the trading team, and her desk even has a ring light.
Sweetpea Golightly proved well in just one episode of Industry season 3 that she is not a Gen Z stereotype who is into cliche stuff. She has proved herself to be wise, self-aware, and impressive at the same time. As the storyline develops, viewers will get to see more of this smartness and how she adds value to the room.
While talking about the inspiration behind the origination of Sweetpea’s character to Decider, the makers highlighted that it's driven by women like Love Island cast member Molly-Mae Hague, who have intense work ethics and can openly speak about how they want success and money in their lives.
“It’s a thing that Gen Z has over Millennials. They’re not ashamed to say that they want to be successful,” said Mickey Down.
While talking about the name Sweetpea, Konard Kay highlighted that the idea is borrowed from Blackadder. Just like fans must have seen or heard the name Captain Darling on the British sitcom, which adds a funny element to the character and the show, the name Sweetpea came into being.
“So, every time you hear someone say Sweetpea in a serious tone, or whenever someone’s angry using her name, it’s immediately funny,” said Konard.
Who plays Sweetpea Golightly in Industry season 3?
Sweetpea Golightly is played by actress Miriam Petche. This is Petche’s first major role in her acting career as an adult. She had worked as a child actor and appeared in the BBC series Vexed (2010) as Chloe Chinbrook, Zombies Next Door (2015) as Ayls Briar, and The Worst Witch (2017) as Esmerelda Hallow.
Fans of the show can watch Industry season 3 on HBO Max in the USA, BBC One in the UK, and JioCinema Premium in India.
