Agatha All Along is a supernatural television series by Jac Schaeffer that debuted on September 18, 2024, on Disney+. The miniseries is a spin-off of the 2021 limited series, WandaVision. Julie Herrin and Cameron Squires produced the show, while Kevin Feige, Mary Livanos, Louis D'Esposito, and others were the executive producers.
Agatha All Along focuses on Kathryn Hahn, as an infamous witch named Agatha, reprising her role from WandaVision. Agatha lost her power at the end of the prequel series and is on a mission to restore her power by facing trials of the Witches' Road with her newly-formed coven of witches.
During one of these trials, Agatha heard from her mysterious son, Nicholas Scratch, who communicated with her through an Ouija board. The scene from episode 5 of the show confirmed that Nicholas was dead.
Agatha hears from her son Nicholas Scratch in Agatha All Along
Episode 5 of Agatha All Along, titled Darkest Hour/Wake Thy Power, was aired on October 9, 2024. It saw Agatha and her coven face their third trial along the Witches' Road by entering a cabin while dressed in 1980s aesthetics. Their task is to participate in a seance and communicate with the dead using an Ouija board.
They summon the ghost of Agatha's mother, Evanora Harkness, who possesses her daughter's body and attacks the other witches. Everyone, except Alice, hesitates to intervene. She steps up to get rid of Evanora's ghost by blasting Agatha with her power. Once the ghost is expelled, Agatha continues stealing Alice's power, staying true to her reputation.
The others watch in shock and plead with her to stop before it kills Alice. In his desperation, Teen turns to the Ouija board, which spells out the name 'Nicholas Scratch.' He blurts out the name, and a baby's voice yells, "Stop, mommy."
The pivotal moment confirms that Agatha's son, Nicholas Scratch, is dead and speaking from beyond the grave. Upon hearing her dead son's voice, Agatha stops in her tracks, but it's too late for Alice, who immediately drops dead.
Nicholas is first mentioned in the show's second episode when Jennifer tells Teen that Agatha sacrificed her child to get her hands on the Darkhold. It needs to be seen if the series will reveal Nicholas's fate and the circumstances of his death in the remaining episodes of Agatha All Along.
Was the Teen ever Nicholas Scratch?
In the show's first episode, Agatha meets a mysterious goth, only known as 'Teen', who wants to accompany her on the treacherous Witches' Road. Teen's true identity has been one of the show's best-kept secrets. It naturally led to several fan theories speculating about his identity and past.
A popular fan theory floated the idea that Teen was the real Nicholas Scratch, a.k.a. Agatha's son. However, the fifth episode put that theory to rest as Teen's real identity was finally revealed in the final moments of the episode.
After Teen confronts Agatha for killing Alice, she barks back at him by comparing him to his mother. This shows that Agatha figured out Teen's true identity despite the sigil preventing him from revealing any personal details.
An infuriated Teen unleashes his magical power by possessing Jen and Lilia's bodies. He directs them to kill Agatha by sinking her in the mud and then proceeds to kill both of them similarly.
The series then delivers a master stroke by zooming out to show Teen wearing a blue crown, similar to that of the Scarlet Witch. It confirms that Teen is indeed Billy Kaplan, the reincarnation of Wanda's son, Billy. When he gets older, Billy assumes a new identity in the form of Wiccan and becomes a Young Avenger.
New episodes of Agatha All Along premiere every Wednesday at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT.
