The thirteenth season of Call the Midwife concluded on March 3, 2024, slightly short of seven million viewers in the UK. The popular series that debuted in January 2012 has been coming back with new seasons and Christmas Specials each year for more than a decade.
With the thirteenth season covering the period of 1969 and its thereabouts, there is more to come in the show. The BBC confirmed in February 2023 the renewal of Call the Midwife for the fourteenth and fifteenth seasons. With this, the show's fans can watch the medical drama until 2026.
For the uninitiated, Call the Midwife is a British television series presenting the daily lives of trained midwives and nurses as they solve medical issues for patients coming to Nonnatus House, a nursing convent. The award-winning show is known to focus on various social and cultural issues.

The recently concluded Call the Midwife season 13 is not the final season
As mentioned above, Call the Midwife is far from over and is renewed for seasons 14 and 15. The thirteenth season presented the period of 1969 coinciding with Apollo 11's moon landing. The social and cultural structure of society during those times is evident from the events showcased in the series, along with the medical issues prevalent at the time.
As per creator Heidi Thomas, a renewal will ensure the show exhibits the medical advancements and social transformations seen in the 1970s, BBC.com reported. Since the show has come out with thirteen seasons from 2012 to 2024, along with a Christmas Special each year, the upcoming 14th and 15th seasons will approximately see the audience through 2025 and 2026.
Thomas believes that the upcoming seasons will display the personal and professional lives of the nuns and midwives of Nonnatus House as they head into medical progress and social improvements through the 70s.
Call the Midwife: Seasons 14 and 15 expected cast and date of release
In the last few seasons, Call the Midwife has dropped the eight episodes starting in January every year through March. It is expected that Call the Midwife season 14 will arrive in January 2025 and conclude in March 2025. It will be followed by a Christmas Special in 2025 later in the year.
Going by a similar reasoning, the fifteenth season is likely to be released in January 2026, followed by a Christmas Special in the last quarter of the year. However, these windows are speculations and await confirmation from the production house.
Going by the turn of events in season 13, Olly Rix's Matthew Aylward may not be returning in season 14, as he is supposed to have left England. Since he is not planning to take his wife along, Helen George's Trixie may return for the next season. The plot may see her joining her husband for a limited period and then coming back.

A short recap of Call the Midwife season 13
The recently concluded season 13 revealed the financial problems of Matthew Aylward in front of his wife. While Trixie was waiting to upgrade her life, economic bankruptcy quashed her dreams. However, she decided to stay supportive of her husband even when he decided to move to New York to resolve his monetary problems.
As the show does in each season, Call the Midwife season 13 exposed another social issue, that of child abuse. The issue was brought to the fore in the story arc of teenager Alison, who has a baby delivered by Rosalind. The convent learned that the baby was fathered by Alison's stepfather, who had abused the child since she was ten.
In another thread, even though Violet's seaside outing had put May's health in disarray due to water aspiration, the concerned authorities allowed the Turner family to adopt the child in their foster care so far.
On the other hand, while Rosalind and Joyce passed their exams and were offered permanent jobs in Nonnatus House, Joyce's estranged husband arrived at the hospital, jeopardizing her reputation. However, the hospital allowed her to continue despite her secret being exposed by her blackmailing husband.
