Hulu's sequel series to Betrayal: The Perfect Husband, Betryal: A Father's Secret premiered with all the episodes on July 30, 2024, bringing forth the story of Jason Lytton, who was convicted and sentenced for s*xual exploitation of a minor. The case is rather recent as his wife discovered this secret only after the pandemic in 2021. The harrowing discovery split the family apart.

After Ashley Lytton found the secret folder in her husband's iCloud, she was absolutely horrified and was even admitted to the hospital for chest pain, perhaps a response to the panic caused by this. She later helped the police arrest Jason Lytton by asking him to come to a local Wallmart parking.

Jason was charged with 10 counts of s*xual exploitation of a minor. However, after a year in prison, Jason pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of s*xual exploitation of a minor (possessing nude images of minors), along with two counts of voyeurism. He was sentenced to only 329 days in county jail along with time served. He was reportedly released from prison in August 2023.

He went on to live in Herriman, Utah, and was registered as a s*x offender. He was even allowed visits to his daughter with Ashley, which horrified the latter.

Jason Lytton was seemingly a perfect husband with a perfect family. He had married Ashley 10 years before she made this horrific discovery, and was sharing a child with Ashley, along with two of her children from the previous marriage.

According to Ashley Lytton, who came forward with the story, Jason was often distant from the family claiming to suffer from ADD and clinical depression, something Ashley tried to help him deal with. However, by the time COVID-19 came, Jason seemed to be doing better, and on September 29, 2021, he asked Ashley to help him set up a Venmo account for a new business venture.

However, he soon allegedly started calling Ashley trying to persuade her to make the account together. This roused Ashley's suspicion, and she went on to check her husband's iCloud account, only to be horrified by the revelation. Jason Lytton's account allegedly contained hundreds of photos of young children (between 8-12) in s*xual positions. Along with that, he had also taped Ashley's eldest daughter, who was 15.

This probed the shocked wife to report it to the police. She further helped the authorities catch Jason by asking him to meet in a local Walmart parking. After getting arrested, Jason was charged with 10 counts of s*xual exploitation of a minor. The police managed to seize all the p*rnography and take him in.

Lytton did not confess to the crimes till a lesser charge was brought up against him. A year later, he confessed to the reduced charge of sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of voyeurism. He was sentenced for only one year after the already served term and sent to the county jail.

He reportedly spent his sentence at the Salt Lake County Jail in South Salt Lake City, Utah. He was paroled in August 2023, following which he returned to normal life. He was, however, put on probation for 14 months and was registered as a s*x offender.

He has been allowed supervised visits with his daughter, Olivia, which came as a shock to his wife. Anyhow, Jason Lytton is a free man now, and continues to reside in Herriman, Utah.
