Netflix's The Man with 1000 Kids has already caused waves across the world with its intriguing story of one Jacob Meijer, who has been a serial sperm donor for over 17 years, fathering as many as 550 children in the process. Moreover, Meijer is rumored to have even fathered 1,000 kids, which gives the Netflix documentary its name.

However, as the docu-series, The Man with 1000 Kids, delves into the struggles of the families who found out that their children from the sperm donor may have hundreds of siblings across the world, Meijer has a completely different perspective.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour on Wednesday, he bashed The Man with 1000 Kids for depicting only one side of the tale. He even claimed that he helped out a lot of families and that is an angle Netflix left out entirely. Meijer said:

"They deliberately called [the documentary] The Man With 1,000 Kids, when it should be 'the sperm donor who helped families conceive with 550 children'...So already from the start they are deliberately deceiving and misleading."

Though Netflix has not commented on this, Natalie Hill, the documentary's executive producer commented:

"I've spent the last four years speaking to families who have been impacted by Jonathan's lies. I've personally spoken to 45 or 50 families...Fifty families made impact statements to the court about his lies, and pleaded with the judge that he stop. So this continued platform for Jonathan to talk about it being a handful of women is completely untrue."

Jacob Meijer claimed that Netflix did a good job of selecting five families out of the hundreds of families he "helped" to conceive.

The Man with 1000 Kids: Jacob Meijer continues on his stance about fathering hundreds of kids

In Netflix's The Man with 1000 Kids, the topic of Jacob Meijer and his serial donation story led to families having children with hundreds of half-siblings. His 17-year career in sperm donation saw him donate several times in a private manner, which made it harder to track.

But he still firmly believes that his actions brought happiness to families as he helped them have children. He continued in the interview:

"I think Netflix did a great job at selecting five families [who are unhappy] out of the 225 families that I've helped, and they [the other families] will definitely tell you something else."

Speaking about the impact of his actions and his lack of remorse about the same, Jacob Meijer added:

"For a sperm donor it's quite common. They go up into the hundreds of children. They [the clinics] will ship the donor semen to multiple countries... I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. I think it's very good. I see that they [the children] have many friends, they meet with each other.

He continued:

"And I cannot speak for them, but from what I've seen, they are very happy that they have so many siblings. Because they [the half-siblings] meet on donor days, they meet with each other and go on holiday together...The misconception is I had some sort of plan."

Since The Man with 1000 Kids premiered, the docu-series has received extreme reactions from viewers across the world, who could not comprehend the story of Meijer and the impact it had on children. This adds to the expansive list of chilling Netflix documentaries.
