French fashion drama La Maison season 1 episode 3 was released on Friday, September 27, on Apple TV+. The latest episode tackles the immediate aftermath of Vincent's scandal and the family voting for Paloma as his replacement as the artistic director of Maison LEDU.
Previously, in La Maison, Vincent thought that his racist scandal would blow over. Meanwhile, Perle and the rest of the Ledu clan were conspiring to get Vincent to step down and have Zita Hanrot's Paloma, a young, innovative designer, replace him. When Paloma finally got the vote of the majority of the board members, Perle gave her a tour of the fashion house, where he saw a painting that her father, Gino, previously gave Vincent.
In a tense interaction between Paloma and Vincent in the steps of Maison LEDU, she tells him that she's the new AD now and she doesn't want to see his face in her Maison. While Vincent is reluctant to step down from LEDU House, La Maison season 1 episode 3 sees him doing what most of his inner circle has been telling him—say goodbye to Maison LEDU.

Did Vincent finally leave the LEDU House in La Maison season 1 episode 3?
At the end of La Maison season 1 premiere, Perle, as the new director of the fashion house, had already put her foot down about Vincent and Maison LEDU. He is to vacate the studio, and while he will always be part of the Maison, he needs to step down from the AD position.
However, the transition for LEDU's new AD is not as smooth as Perle and Paloma hoped. Vincent doesn't appear to want to leave and, as seen early in episode 3, he's at the studio designing his new collection like nothing happened. But, during a trip abroad with Perle, she tells Vincent, "It's you moved onto something else."
While he stakes his claim over the Maison, where he's worked for the past 40 years, episode 3 brings a transition that's been teased since the season premiere. In the final scenes of the latest episode, Vincent stands on the steps of Maison LEDU, addressing all the staff. He acknowledges the "turbulent and trying" a couple of days before but says that he knows the Maison will "weather the storm."
Vincent also shocks the viewers as he voluntarily, although with hesitation, says that he's leaving Maison LEDU. He then thanked his staff and introduced Paloma Castel as the new artistic director of La Maison. The end of La Maison season 1 episode 3 marks the start of something new and different for the French fashion house as Vincent leaves and Paloma takes his seat.
Did Vincent make it into the family photograph?
After the board voted unanimously to hire Paloma as LEDU's new artistic director, Perle had been planning to announce her as the Maison's new AD. In La Maison season 1 episode 3, Paloma tells Perle about her idea of continuing with the fashion house's history, but with a twist. She wants to continue with the Ledu family portrait, which is a tradition for the fashion house. Paloma wants every Ledu in it except for Vincent.
While Perle, along with the rest of the marketing team, agrees with Paloma's idea, she has a hard time telling Vincent that he won't be in the portrait. When she tells Vincent that it would be better for the Maison if he's not included in the picture, the graying fashion designer is visibly upset.
During the photoshoot for the family photograph, which is ironically the episode's title, Vincent blindsides them. A maid announces that he's coming down for the photoshoot, which is not part of Perle and Paloma's plan. However, while Perle and the Ledus are reeling in Vincent's drama, Paloma has a last-minute plan of her own.
She assigns her friend Ye-Ji to take a photo of everyone before Vincent arrives. While the rest of the Ledus look like they want to be somewhere other than the dining table, Paloma stares straight into the camera and smiles. She posts the photo on her social media to announce her taking over LEDU's artistic director role with the caption: "Canceled by his own family."
Everyone at the dining table receives notification of Paloma's recent post just as Vincent arrives for the photoshoot. In the end, he doesn't make it to the family picture.
La Maison season 1 episode 3 complicates Vincent and Paloma's backstory
Paloma and Vincent's close ties were featured all over the La Maison season 1 premiere. Plenty of the French fashion drama's characters imply that Paloma is Vincent's daughter. For one, Madame Diane Rovel alluded to Vincent and Paloma being a father-daughter when she said this after killing Vincent's reputation by leaking his racist video:
"Now that I've killed the father, I want the daughter. Bring me Paloma Castel."

Robinson also refers to Paloma as his "cousin" when they meet during the photoshoot. However, a dinner between Paloma and Vincent reveals a boggling truth about their real connection. It turns out Paloma is not Vincent's daughter. Instead, she's the daughter of Vincent's former lover, Gino Castel, with some woman.
La Maison season 1 episode 3 reveals that Gino worked with Vincent at the fashion house for years, and they were also lovers. Per Paloma's recollection, Gino cheated on Vincent with Paloma's still unnamed mother, which explains Vincent's abject hate towards Paloma's existence.
That said, Paloma being Gino's daughter and not Vincent's doesn't explain why Madame Rovel referred to her as Vincent's daughter. Another possible explanation is that the "father" Madame Rovel was referring to was actually Gino, but because she said, "Now that I've killed the father," the scenario implies that she killed Gino. Moreover, it still doesn't explain why Robinson called Paloma "cousin" if she's only Vincent's former lover's daughter.
With all of that said, La Maison season 1 remains true to its teasers of familial drama and tension.
