La Maison season 1 episode 4 was released on Apple TV+ on Friday, October 4, 2024, bringing a new set of challenges for the French fashion drama's main characters, especially with Paloma heading Maison LEDU.
Previously, in episode 3 of the series, Vincent finally, although with much defiance, left his place as the head designer at Maison LEDU. His stepping down opened a place for Paloma, his late former lover's daughter, as the fashion house's new artistic director.
Meanwhile, Madame Rovel and Victor have succeeded in their phase one of bringing the Maison down. They've managed to poach Robinson into working on his own fashion line with them, and in exchange, he will sell his shares in the Maison.
As Paloma settles into her new role at Maison LEDU in La Maison season 1 episode 4, she has to prove that she has what it takes to head the Maison in her first fashion show for LEDU, which ends up a success.

Paloma's first LEDU fashion show in La Maison season 1 episode 4 ended in a sea of endless applause
Following the cliffhanger of La Maison season 1 episode 3, where Paloma is thrust into the spotlight as the new artistic director and face of Maison LEDU, the latest episode sees her preparing for her first-ever fashion show for the Maison. With more eyes looking and gauging whether she would succeed or fail, immense pressure lies on Paloma's shoulder. Vincent's animosity doesn't help, and her uncertainty about who she can trust only makes matters worse.
The countdown to her fashion show is featured throughout episode 4, and Paloma has to let the fashion world see what she's made of. However, it isn't as easy as she thinks because as the time for the show looms, she gets antsy to get all the clothes ready. However, by the looks of it, she hasn't slept for days, and little details evade her. She's also quick to anger, and in one scene, she shouts at Ye-Ji, telling her closest friend to do her job.
Paloma makes and demands changes in her creations, setting the entire Maison back for minutes. They know they won't be able to finish everything in time. At one point, she tells some of the crew to cease sewing the additional lace train she requested for a particular gown and start pinning the pieces instead to save time.
She also tries to mitigate disasters left and right, one of which is her model for "The Divorcee," Joy, trying to conceal her weight. She wears body padding to get a "healthy" weight during the weigh-in ahead of the fashion show, which Paloma later finds out. Joy also reveals that Perle assured her it was okay to do so, which surprises Paloma. Without their model for the finale, the fashion show faces a huge problem.
Ye-Ri tells her about the viral video in which Paloma shares the inspiration for wanting to hold the fashion show at the Maison's headquarters, adding to Paloma's problems hours before her show. She wanted to make her father's unfinished painting her signature. Not someone to advertise such personal matters, Paloma is visibly horrified with what their PR person, Sophie, did.
Paloma then confronts Perle about both Joy and the video, to which Perle replies that with only a day before the show, it was their best option. Paloma accuses Perle of making a reality TV show about her, but Perle explains that she's only doing her job, which is to make people talk about Paloma and not Vincent or Rovel. She proudly says that Paloma's videos have gotten millions of viewers.
Meanwhile, Paloma has an ace up her sleeve. With Perle undermining her about the video, she tells the former model that they share the same vision of making the fashion show a success. And so, she adds that she found a girl to replace Joy and that she posted a story about it, causing people to go wild.
When Perle watches the video, it is Paloma announcing that Perle Foster will make her comeback in the LEDU fashion show. Fast forward to the hour of the fashion show, with Caroline Rovel present, models showcase Paloma's creation, and when "The Divorcee" comes out, attendees erupt in applause. They stand and applaud, with others trying to film the whole thing.
If the applause and happy faces of everyone at the fashion show and Paloma jumping for joy are any indication, then Paloma's first fashion show for LEDU in La Maison season 1 episode 4 was a massive success.
Did Perle walk the runway to end Paloma's first fashion show for LEDU?
When Perle realizes that Paloma has one-upped her by posting a story about her making a comeback on the runway, she isn't happy about it. Dread is visible on her face as there is a reason why she hasn't been back on the runway. In the La Maison season 1 premiere, Vincent alluded to wanting Perle to return to model for him, but she never did. In Vincent's last fashion show, Perle even bailed on him at the last minute.
During Paloma's fashion show, Perle and her unfinished dress are missing. Robinson finds her in one of the design rooms having a panic attack. Perle reveals that she's "too old to model" and that she isn't sure she can walk the runway. However, Robinson encourages her before telling her that closing the show could be her middle finger to Vincent and the Ledu family.
In the end, Perle decides to walk the runway, showcasing the final piece, "The Divorcee." She captivates the crowd on the runway, earning a standing ovation from the audience.
At the end of La Maison season 1 episode 4, Perle reveals something to Vincent that can provide context as to why she was hesitant to walk the runway. She tells him that in her last fashion show for Vincent, in 2005, he had her lose six kilos in two weeks and that she was pregnant with Victor's kid at that time. While she doesn't entirely blame Vincent, implying that she lost the child, Perle acknowledges Vincent's part in what happened.
After the show, Perle recalls Vincent telling her that it would be her final one. While she was slim enough because of the weight loss, Vincent deemed her too old to model.
Why was Vincent missing from Paloma's fashion show in La Maison season 1 episode 4?
Early in La Maison season 1 episode 4, Vincent hightails out of Maison LEDU as Paloma gets busy preparing for her fashion show. He goes to a massive mansion on a remote island, and while he isn't at the fashion show, he does watch the entire thing on his tablet.
Perle also visits him on the island at the end of La Maison season 1 episode 4, where they sit overlooking the ocean before Perle drops the bomb about losing Victor's baby. While Vincent has stepped back from the Maison in this episode and tried to find some solitude on the island, how long he can be away from his beloved Maison remains to be seen.
