La Maison season 1 episode 7 sees Paloma and Vincent as new allies
Vincent Ledu finally decided to confront his emotions after he attempted to drown himself, as seen in the final scenes in La Maison season 1 episode 5. The next episode followed with the OG Ledu designer extending an olive branch to his family, especially his estranged daughter, Paloma, just in time for Christmas. And while the family reunion was turned upside down by a betrayal, Vincent and Paloma came out of it with a much better relationship.
Their newfound father-daughter chemistry continues in La Maison season 1 episode 7, when Paloma decides to stay in Brittany with Vincent until New Year's. While everyone else returned to their own lives, Vincent and Paloma took the time to relearn about each other, including Paloma's childhood. They shared many touching moments in episode 7, including watching old footage of Gino and baby Paloma.
Paloma, who is struggling with her first couture collection for Maison LEDU, finds an unlikely ally in Vincent. Besides telling stories about Paloma's connection to Maison LEDU, Vincent also takes her under his wing, making true to what she said to the young designer in the previous episode. He wants Paloma to become his heiress and successor, so he tells her everything about the LEDU right from the beginning.
In La Maison season 1 episode 7, Vincent teams up with Paloma to help her "find her music." Vincent becomes Paloma's mentor—he teaches her everything from hand-weaving lace to becoming a good creative and even boosting Paloma's confidence.
While he's not working directly in the collection, Vincent gives Paloma the tools to make sure that Maison LEDU becomes successful. In other words, he's indirectly teaming up with Paloma to bring LEDU back to its glory in the French fashion scene.
Did Paloma find inspiration for her couture collection?
Vincent's tutelage pays off in the end because Paloma finds the inspiration she's looking for. She also has a new idea for her couture collection, which is much better than the last one she had. Hours of weaving lace, just like how Vincent taught her, led to her new brilliant idea—use seaweed threat for an elastic, more robust, vegan, and local lace.
Talking about the inspiration for her couture collection in the next LEDU fashion show, Paloma explains that it will be an homage to the sea, "where the Maison was born." She names the collection "The Wave."
Is Vincent returning to Maison Ledu?
Vincent and Paloma's relationship has only gotten better since episode 7, at least enough that Paloma now trusts Vincent when it comes to the Maison. After all, they've spent some quality time during the holidays, and Vincent's teachings and support have been a great help for Paloma in finding answers and inspiration for her couture collection.
Perhaps the epitome of their growing relationship is Paloma bringing Vincent back to Maison LEDU. It's been a huge question if the designer, who spent several decades being the face of the fashion house, will ever go back to the Maison. Vincent left LEDU in episode 3, but the final scenes of La Maison season 1 episode 7 reveal that he is indeed coming back as LEDU's consultant.
However, not everyone is pleased with Vincent's return. Perle is apprehensive and she tells Paloma that Vincent being back could confuse the rest of LEDU. Paloma's friend, Ye-Ji, is far from being Vincent's fan and her distaste for Paloma's decision to bring Vincent back is all over her face.
With only several more episodes left before the series finale, only the next episodes will reveal if the new dynamic—Paloma and Vincent working together at Maison LEDU—will be fruitful.
Robinson feels the sting of betrayal in La Maison season 1 episode 7
In La Maison season 1 episode 6, Robinson is visibly heartbroken after Solal reveals that he is Rovel's spy, sent to make sure that Robinson sells his shares to Rovel. That said, in episode 7, while Robinson is still hurt by the betrayal, his sweet moment with Solal shows that their feelings for each other are genuine.
Solal promises Robinson that he will testify against Rovel in the lawsuit to help Robinson's family before he leaves Brittany. However, Solal didn't turn up, but this time, Robinson was more concerned that something happened to him. He believes that Solal is sincere.
However, a botched love life is not the only problem for Robinson in La Maison season 1 episode 7. He experiences a stinging betrayal when he realizes that his uncle, Victor, completely blindsided him. Robinson thinks that he can renege on his deal with Rovel, where they help him establish his own Maison in exchange for his shares in LEDU. But he can't because Rovel had already paid for it, and the shares are theirs now, and they won't be giving it back to him.
Caroline Rovel is onto something
Throughout the first seven episodes of the French fashion drama, Caroline Rovel has been a shadow figure—seen but not heard. She might be the only daughter of the wealthy and powerful figure that is Madame Diane Rovel, but she doesn't hold the cards and won't likely hold the cards as long as the Rovel matriarch is alive.
However, in episode 7, she falls unconscious from her chair during a meal shared with Caroline, Victor, and Louise. However, Madame is closely guarded by Lucy, and even Caroline can't enter her room.
At the near end of La Maison season 1 episode 7, Caroline haughtily tells Lucy about her succession. With her mother obviously sick, Caroline implies that when Madame Rovel is no longer there to rule the empire, she will be the replacement, and it would serve Lucy good if they become allies.
Caroline tries to get past Lucy to check out what's happening in her mother's room. At this point, she still has no idea about Madame Rovel's brain tumor diagnosis and that she's likely dying. But she's had an inkling that her mother is not well for the past couple of episodes.
Before the episode ends, it looks like Lucy is on the verge of allowing Caroline to enter Madame Rovel's room after Caroline tells her that whatever is in that room could change both their lives and their future.
