About Lady in the Lake
The plot of Lady in the Lake chronicles the sudden disappearance of a young girl from Baltimore during Thanksgiving in 1996. This takes a toll on the people, setting in motion an investigation into the case. Working closely on the case is Maddie Schwartz, who is an investigative journalist.
During the investigation, Schwartz meets Cleo Johnson, who is an active advocate for the black community due to her sociopolitical background. Although the two lead very different lives, Schwartz is drawn to Johnson's way of life, which is worsened by her unexpected death under mysterious circumstances.
Further, Schwartz's inquiry into Johnson's death creates a ripple effect, revealing certain aspects of the town and society at large that were until then mostly unknown to her. The show is a drama thriller, but it is also a commentary on society and the problems that engulf it.
