Peacock's documentary Lockerbie: A Search for Truth follows Jim Swire's quest for justice after losing his daughter Flora in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing on December 21, 1988. The flight tragically crashed over half an hour after takeoff due to a bomb, killing all aboard.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth chronicles Jim Swire's immersion into the investigation surrounding the bombing through five episodes of the show. Jim now lives with his wife Jane Swire at their house in Chipping Camden in the Cotswolds. They live a quiet life, spending time with their children Catherine and William, and four grandchildren.

About Jim Swire's family: Where are they now?

Jim Swire is a doctor turned activist who became the face of the Lockerbie bombing campaign group. Frustrated with the lack of transparency around the investigation of the plane crash, he dedicated his life to lobbying for the British and American governments to launch official investigations into the event.

Jim Swire continues to be an active participant in the campaign, determined to find out the truth behind the Lockerbie bombing. The whereabouts of the members of Jim Swire's family is explored below.

Jane Swire

Jane Swire is now in her 80s and she lives a quiet life with her husband, Jim Swire in the Cotswolds. She married Jim married in 1961 after meeting at Cambridge and the couple traveled extensively over the years. Even now they regularly visit their home in Isle of Skye, Scotland and spend time at Flora’s Wood, which is a 12-acre property named after their eldest daughter who died in the plane crash.

After losing her daughter Flora, Jane left her job as a religious education teacher. Struggling with grief, she often counted down from 15, the time it takes to lose consciousness in a plane crash, to console herself that Flora’s suffering was brief. While Jim became a public advocate for justice, Jane stayed in the background, supporting him and holding the family together.

William Swire

Flora's brother, William Swire, was only 16 when she died. He dealt with his grief quietly even as his family was a subject of immense media attention due to their father's activism. For this reason, William grew up to appreciate privacy and has kept his distance from the limelight.

It was only at the 25th-anniversary service of the Lockerbie air disaster that he decided to talk to the newspapers about his sister and family and dealing with the grief of losing a loved one. William got married in 2001 in Scotland and is now father to Oscar and Lewis. He had always been intrigued about flying and he even got his pilot’s license.

Catherine Swire

Catherine was also very young when Flora passed away and the shock of losing her sister was so huge that she lost the ability to speak and read for some time. She also had a strained relationship with her father who was always busy investigating and fighting for justice for Flora.

To escape the constant media attention, Catherine went to Canada for higher studies. She now works as an English teacher at Worcester Sixth Form College and also runs the Creative Writing program. Catherine is also a prize-winning poet and her poems have been featured at the Ledbury Poetry Festival and on Radio 4’s Ramblings. She is divorced and now lives in Malvern Hills with her children, Grace and Sam.
