Matlock season 1, the highly anticipated first season of the reboot of the original 1986 television series of the same name, opened with a sneak peek (pilot episode) on September 22, 2024. The show is expected to release its first episode on October 17, 2024, at 9 pm EST, after which subsequent episodes are scheduled for release on CBS every Thursday.

The show stars Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Kathy Bates in the titular role of Madeline Matlock, also known as Matty Matlock and Madeline Kingston. Other featured actors in the show include Skye P. Marshall as Olympia, Jason Ritter as Julian, Leah Lewis as Sarah, and David Del Rio as Billy.

Kathy Bates plays Madeline Matlock in season 1 of Matlock. In the show, she joins a law firm called Jacobson & Moore as a lawyer. She claims to be a former lawyer who is practicing again to earn money for raising her grandson.

However, as the show's pilot episode reveals, Madeline Matlock's real name is Madeline Kingston. She takes up the job at Jacobson & Moore because she believes that someone in the firm's upper management was responsible for hiding documents related to her daughter's drug overdose and she wants to investigate it by being an insider.

Kathy Bates is best known for her roles in Misery (1990), American Horror Story: Coven (2014), and The Late Shift (1996).

2) Skye P. Marshall as Olympia

Sky P. Marshall portrays Olympia in Matlock season 1. She is positioned higher up in the Jacobson & Moore company as a senior partner, and as a result, becomes Madeline's immediate boss.

Although skeptical at first, the full-length trailer of the show released by CBS teases that Olympia gradually becomes accustomed to Madeline's presence and even grows to respect her to a certain extent.

The projects Skye P. Marshall is most recognized for are Black Lightning (2018), Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2020), and Good Sam (2022).

3) Jason Ritter as Julian

Jason Ritter plays Julian in Matlock season 1. Much like Olympia, Julian is also a senior partner at Jacobson & Moore. In the pilot episode of the show, Julian and Olympia are in the process of settling a divorce.

Unlike Olympia, the pilot episode of season 1 of Matlock suggested that Julian was impressed with Madeline's work ethic and process before Olympia could be. In the show's trailer, he can be seen engaging in several light-hearted, banter-filled moments with Madeline that point towards a friendly relationship between the two.

4) David Del Rio as Billy

David Del Rio plays Billy, an associate at Jacobson & Moore in Matlock season 1. Billy works closely with Madeline to solve cases along with Sarah, another associate at the company.

While Olympia gives orders and decides on the direction of work, Billy works at ground level with Madeline to solve cases.

David Del Rio is best known for The Troop (2009-2011), The Baker and the Beauty (2020), and Maggie (2022).

5) Leah Lewis as Sarah

Lea Lewis portrays Sarah in Matlock season 1. Sarah is an associate at Jacobson & Moore, just like Billy. She collaborates closely with Madeline to solve cases and provides assistance when necessary.

Her fresh perspective helps in solving cases, making Madeline's work a bit easier, especially when dealing with modern methods of case-solving.
