Mayfair Witches season 2 episode 2, Ten of Swords, aired on January 12, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC+, directed by Esta Spalding. The horrific death of Gifford Mayfair sets off the Mayfair Witches season 2 episode 2's climax. Lasher seduces Gifford before her sad death since he is drawn to her psychic energy. Even though Gifford knows he is dangerous, he falls under his spell.
After they met, she died of sudden bleeding, which sounds a lot like a miscarriage. This is another instance of Lasher's harmful influence, as his need to connect leads to terrible results.
Rowan’s confrontation with Lasher in the woods
In Mayfair Witches season 2 episode 2, Rowan follows Lasher to the woods near Gifford's house to take control of him again. Her powers weaken in his absence, but her attempts to subdue him fail.

When Ciprien asks Moira for help breaking into the Mayfair family to fight Lasher, he faces a moral dilemma. Ciprien is under a lot of pressure to work with Albrecht, a Talamasca figure he doesn't trust. He turns to his friend Arjuna for help, and Arjuna reminds him to stick to his values.
At first, Ciprien thinks about using his Talamasca skills to hide his thoughts from Moira's psychic abilities so she will trust him.
When Moira refuses to play, though, he chooses honesty over lying and lets her read his mind instead. This shows Moira that Ciprien is sincere; he wants the same things as her, which are to protect Rowan and talk to Lasher.
Even so, Moira is still not sure how to help Ciprien protect Rowan, especially since neither of them knows how dangerous Lasher is becoming or how he got out of the Mayfair house.
Cortland’s release from purgatory
Cortland Mayfair's story is about the extent to which he is hurting mentally because his abusive father, Julien, keeps him in a limbo-like state. Cortland gives up his hand as a sign of his desperation because he has to feed Julien's never-ending hunger.
Rowan's choice to free Cortland from this pain makes the story more complicated since it's still not clear why he did it. His release could lead to more problems because he isn't sure if he will stay loyal to his family.
Rowan’s internal conflict
In Mayfair Witches season 2 episode 2, Rowan struggles with her connection to Lasher and the power he gives her throughout the episode. Being haunted by Millie, a ghostly Mayfair ancestor, Rowan starts to enjoy her newfound strength, even though it hurts others.

Lasher is both a childlike figure looking for love and a destructive force. His need for connection is very different from the chaos he causes, which makes him more complicated. It makes Rowan's relationship with him more complicated as she can't figure out how to reconcile the fact that he is innocent with the fact that he killed someone.
