After a long wait of nearly a year, the Victorian period drama Miss Scarlet is back with its fifth installment. The show, which premiered in 2020, follows the story of Eliza Scarlet, who inherits her late father's detective agency. She teams up with a Scotland Yard veteran William "The Duke" Wellington to investigate cases.
Miss Scarlet season 5 debuted on January 12, 2025, at 8 pm EST on PBS. This murder mystery series adds a fresh perspective to the whodunnit genre incorporating themes of romance, gender, and sexuality to examine Victorian society. The new season picks up where season 4 left off, showcasing Eliza’s agency and her rising path in her professional life.
While Duke is away in New York, Eliza is faced with a difficult decision. Meanwhile, a new Detective Inspector arrives at Scotland Yard. Eliza must focus on building a relationship with him if she wants to have the police on her side.

Cathy Belton plays Ivy, the housekeeper of the Scarlet House in the series. She is a mother figure to Eliza.
Belton is an Irish actor who graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, and has primarily worked as a stage actor. She has participated in many productions at the Abbey Theatre and Gate Theatre. Belton's television credits include roles in Roy, The Clinic, Glenroe, Red Rock, and Paths to Freedom. She has also appeared prominently in films like The Tiger's Tail and Intermission.
