Once again, a Harlan Coben adaptation, Missing You, has gained instant traction after its release on Netflix and is widely being viewed all across the world. Based on a novel by Coben, who also serves as an executive producer in the series, this new show was released on the first day of 2025.
The series is centered around a thrilling mystery where a detective finds her estranged fiancee on a dating app leading her to reopen the mystery of her father's death. The series has a hoard of interesting elements, that go beyond just the acting, direction, and writing. Over its five-episode run, the series also features some exciting songs, which add a much-needed layer of depth to the storytelling.
The series, as the name suggests, does feature John Waite's Missing You in multiple instances. It also uses a clever mix of contemporary and classic songs to accentuate the narrative.

What is Missing You all about?
Based on Harlan Coben's 2014 book of the same name, the latest Netflix adaptation comes hot on the heels of Fool Me Once, another Coben adaptation, which attracted a significant hoard of viewers upon its release.
This new series follows a detective who encounters her estranged fiancee on a dating app, opening up a long-buried mystery that is far from solved.
The official logline of the series reads:
"11 years ago Detective Kat Donovan's fiancé Josh – the love of her life – disappeared, and she's never heard from him since. Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again. Josh's reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past."
The series is written by Victoria Asare-Archer and is directed by Nimer Rashed and Isher Sahota.
The primary cast of the series includes Rosalind Eleazar as Detective Inspector Kat Donovan, Jessica Plummer as Stacey Embalo, Richard Armitage as Detective Chief Inspector Ellis Stagger, Lenny Henry as Clint Donovan, Steve Pemberton as Titus, Marc Warren as Monte Leburne, and Samantha Spiro as Nurse Sally Steiner, among many others.
