The Acolyte is a part of the Star Wars Universe, and it looks into the dark side of the Force and the rise of the Sith in the High Republic era. One of the characters in the series is Padawan Trobin, played by Dean-Charles Chapman.

Torbin’s destiny suggests the downfall of the Jedi Order. Mae decides to take revenge on some Jedi, including Torbin. She managed to kill Torbin with the most sadistic approach to make him feel guilty about his actions and consume poison. This ending of Torbin’s character on The Acolyte has gained mixed reactions from fans on social media.

“Torbin deserved better. my boy just wanted to go home”

Some fans say they resonate with him as they also have to do a job they do not want.

“I can sympathize, i don’t wanna work either,” said an X user
“Torbin is us at work,” said another user
“I bet he wanted a desk job but got the mission all the other padawans wanted,” said a user

While some fans sympathize with the character, others do not feel bad for him as he is shown as an evil character who has killed people out of desperation.

“He wanted to go home so bad he got people killed, that's an impressive level of wanting to go home,” said a user
“This guy is now a contender for a spot in top 10 worst Jedi lists that will be made in years to come,” said another user

Another user commented on the post and asked

“He was so annoying and selfish wdym,” said the user

While some users favor the character and some are against it, some viewers have pointed questions about the plot of the character.

“He also didn’t actually…do anything wrong. Why did he kill himself again?,” asked a user.
“Bro killed himself for no reason and the plot makes no sense,” said another user.

Padawan Torbin's fate in The Acolyte

Padawan Torbin’s fate in The Acolyte shows how weakness can result in death in the Jedi Order. In episode 2 of The Acolyte, the viewers see Mae anxious to take revenge on some special Jedi, which includes Torbin, his master Indara, played by Carrie-Anne Moss, Master Sol, played by Lee Jung-jae, and the Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca, played by Joonas Suotamo.

Mae wants to take revenge on them all as they were involved in destroying her home, but one of these Jedi is hard to defeat. She follows Torbin to a temple on Olega planet and plans to kill him while he is meditating. Mae couldn’t do so because he had a strong shield, and the Force protected him.

Mae didn’t give up there and used a sadistic approach to make Torbin kill himself. She makes him feel guilty for what he has done so far and tricks him into consuming poison, which ultimately leads him to die.

Torbin lets Mae control his feelings as he is already dealing with his guilt, which is shown in the first episode of The Acolyte. Torbin was shown taking Barash Vow in that episode of The Acolyte. Barash Vow is a promise or oath made by a Jedi who wants to feel better about something they did wrong.

Taking a Barash Vow means that the Jedi will stop performing his usual Jedi duties and spend most of their time meditating and connecting with the Force. This shows how the Jedis feel sorry about their actions and try to improve things. Torbin made himself an easy target for Mae as he was already in the quilt of his actions, and Mae influenced him with her powers on the dark side.

Torbin killing himself shows the future downfall of the Jedi Order, and personal battles can lead to bigger issues.
