Jimmy Fallon, the American comedian and television host, recently revealed that he was surprised when Nicole Kidman brought up their dating history during a 2015 interview on The Tonight Show.
On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the 49-year-old appeared on an episode of 20 Questions: On Deadline, where he recalled Kidman mentioning that they had dated:
"Nicole Kidman totally blindsided me on my show. We were just there to talk about one of her movies or something she was going to win an award for. She was great and she looked amazing and we were talking and she goes, ‘Did you know that we dated? Do you remember like I had a crush on you and I came over to your apartment?'"
The 2015 clip had gone viral and Fallon revealed in the recent sit-down that he and Kidman's husband, Keith Urban, still make fun of the moment to this day.
Jimmy Fallon reveals Nicole Kidman "blindsided" him by bringing up their failed dating history
Jimmy Fallon's 2015 clip with Nicole Kidman admitting to liking him in the past, has now resurfaced after the former appeared in an interview with Deadline this Thursday.
In an episode of 20 Questions: On Deadline, Fallon recalled the moment in 2015, when he was "blindsided" by the actress' comment on his show, adding that it was "embarrassing" for him.
Back in 2015, the host asked her if he should explain his version of how they met. He then recounted a mutual friend calling him and asking if he could bring Nicole Kidman to his apartment. The comedian noted:
"I’m walking down the street in New York City, and my friend Rick calls me and says, ‘Dude, what are you doing?... I have Nicole Kidman with me and she wants to meet you to be in Bewitched or something.... I can be in your apartment in 10 minutes."
Fallon went on to add how he was bewildered about what to do as he would rarely have people over at his apartment. He claimed that he had "video games and sneakers" but nothing proper for guests or parties.
Nicole then said:
"I just remembered I liked you. Not now, I’m married now. But Rick was like, ‘Jimmy wants to meet you and you can go over to his apartment,’ and I was single."
The actress's statement bewildered Jimmy Fallon who looked at the camera for a few seconds, and said, "What? Wait, what’s going on? … Did I date Nicole Kidman? Did we go on a date?"
Nicole then continued to explain her side, saying:
"You wouldn’t talk, you didn’t say anything. You were like, ‘Hey, mmm, mmm, mmm!' Well it was like a hang and then you put a video game on or something and I was like, ‘This is so bad.’ And you didn’t talk at all. So after about an hour and a half, I thought, ‘He has no interest, this is so embarrassing.’ So I left, and went, ‘OK, no chemistry. Maybe he’s gay!"
Jimmy Fallon interjected Kidman a few times, saying he was "nervous" and did not know what to say at the time.
During Thursday's Deadline interview, the comedian revealed Keith Urban was not offended by the incident. He said,
"What’s been fun is running into Keith Urban at all these parties and stuff, who’s a really good sport. I went up to him at the Met Gala and went, ‘Hey, I think we might have dated once?' and he was laughing."
Nicole married actor Keith Urban in 2006 and the couple share two daughters, Sunday and Faith. She also has two children, Bella and Connor, with ex-Tom Cruise.
Jimmy Fallon and his wife, Nancy Juvonen, have two daughters Winnie Rose, 10, and Frances Cole, 9.
