Later, the team found out that a local milk company was behind Brianne's murder, and the perpetrators were brought to justice. NCIS: Origins episode 4 ends with Leroy visiting Franks' house for dinner, implying that he has begun to heal.

Leroy saves Mildred in NCIS: Origins episode 4

NCIS: Origins episode 4 follows the case of Brianna's murder, who was killed by a hitman in her house. She was caring for a little girl, Mildred, who had been missing since the attack. Due to false information provided by a neighbor, Franks, and the team believed that she was taken by the hitman. But later, with the help of the K-9 unit Gary Gallahan, she was found hiding in the woods.

Mildred was traumatized, but Mary Jo was able to make her feel relaxed. Mildred's presence constantly reminds Gibbs about his daughter, but he overcomes his feelings and works with Mildred to get the hitman's sketch made.

In the climax of the episode, the team tracked the hitman's house where his father was living. He told them that his son was going to kill Mildred, who was at Mary Jo's house, as she had seen his face. Fortunately, Leroy was present at the scene when the hitman attacked. After an intense fight, he shot the hitman, saving Mildred's life.

A local milk company hired the hitman to kill Brianna

Franks and the team were perplexed about how the hitman found out that Mildred was at Mary Jo's house. Randy informs them that Mr. Hatcher, the hitman's father had come to the precinct. Franks heads out to interrogate him but finds Leroy in the office, whom he had given the day off. Leroy tells him that he appreciates Franks looking out for him, but "this is the job."

Leroy tags along with Franks to interrogate Mr. Hatcher, insisting that he must be the one to inform him about his son's death. Mr. Hatcher was concerned about whether or not the team was able to save the little girl's life. Upon further investigation, he said that the victim was a school teacher who was collecting water samples from the lake for an experiment.

She realized that a local dairy was dumping chemicals into it, making it toxic and damaging the environment. So the dairy hired his son to take her out, to protect their secret. Mr. Hatcher breaks down by talking about his son, and how he never had it easy in life and that he should have been a better father. Leroy informs him that his son is no more.

Leroy visits Franks and his wife for dinner in NCIS: Origins episode 4

The episode began with the scene of Leroy getting information about the murder of his wife and daughter when he was in the war in Kuwait. Suddenly the camp is attacked by missiles and grenades. We see that instead of saving himself by lying on the ground, Leroy begins to walk towards his death, showing his loss of will to live.

After that scene, we cut back to the present time, when Mike invites Gibbs to his house for dinner. He says that his wife Tish, invites everyone who has Mike's back, even Gary Gallahan, the K9-Unit.

Throughout the episode, Franks and the team try to protect Leroy emotionally as the case they are dealing with is very similar to that of the murder of Leory's family. Franks tries to keep him away from the crime scenes and even gives him the day off when the killer is shot. But Leroy faced his fears and came out stronger than before.

In the final scene of NCIS: Origins episode 4, Leroy goes to Franks' house for dinner and meets Tish and Franks, who had also invited Gary Gallahan. The episode ends with Mark Harmon's narration, saying, "It was only me, until it wasn't," establishing that Gibbs was beginning to heal.
