NCIS: Origins is an investigative crime drama and a spinoff of CBS's popular show NCIS. The show is set in 1991 and follows Agent Leroy Gibbs, one of the lead characters of NCIS.

In episode 4 of NCIS: Origins, Agent Gibbs, along with his colleagues in the NIS follows the murder case of Brianna Davis and tries to find a little girl, Mildred. The case was emotionally challenging for Leroy as it was constantly reminding him of his murdered daughter.

Fortunately, the team found Brianne's daughter Mildred in the woods and identified the hitman. But the little girl was attacked by the hitman again when she was at Mary Jo's house. After an intense showdown, Gibbs shot the hitman and saved her. Later, it was revealed that a local milk company was behind Brianne's murder.

The prime witness was a liar in NCIS: Origins episode 4

NCIS: Origins episode 4 begins with the scene of the day when Leroy was informed about the murder of Shannon and Kelly while on his military tour. Then, the scene cuts to the present day, where Mike Franks and his team have been handed over the murder case of Brianne Davis, who was murdered at her home. She cared for a little girl, Mildred, whose father served in the military overseas.

Mildred went missing after the murder, but a neighbor witnessed her being taken away in a blue Ford Explorer. The team begins investigating according to the crime scene findings and the prime witness's testimony. But it turns out that the prime witness, an old man, was lying about the whole thing 'to feel like he mattered.'

He was making up stories to get people's attention in the neighborhood. Mike Franks confronted him, making him spill the truth.

Agent Gibbs saves Mildred with the help of Gary Gallahan

The NIS team brings in the expertise of their much loved and respected K-9 unit dog, Gary Gallahan, to track down Mildred. He takes them deep into the woods and starts digging the soil while the agents prepare themselves for the worst. Frank asks Gibbs to stay back, fearing that seeing a little girl's dead body might trigger him.

Fortunately, Mildred was found alive. She had buried her backpack and was hiding nearby. Lala and Mary Jo in their capacity try to make her feel better and Leroy succeeds in getting a sketch of the hitman while humming a Whitney Houston song with her.

Somehow, the hitman finds out that Mildred is staying at Mary Jo's house and attacks them. But Gibbs was already there to save the day. He fought with the hitman in Mary Jo's basement and shot him before he could harm the little girl.

Gibbs visits Frank's house for dinner in NCIS: Origins episode 4

NCIS: Origins is nicely setting up why Mike Franks is important for Leroy Gibbs. At the beginning of the episode, Mike invites Gibbs to his house for dinner and says that his wife, Tish, invites everyone who has Mike's back, even Gary Gallahan.

After it is found that a local milk company was behind the murder because the victim was going to reveal that they were polluting a river by dumping toxic waste in it. Gibbs goes to Franks' house for dinner and meets Tish and Franks, who had also invited Gary Gallhan.

The delightful last scene of NCIS: Origins episode 4 ends with Mark Harmon's narration, saying:

"It was only me, until it wasn't"

This establishes that Gibbs is beginning to heal.
