What happened to Vince McMahon?
Vince Kennedy McMahon, after graduating from East Carolina University with a business degree back in 1968, began working as a commentator for the World Wrestling Federation, known to be WWF, which was owned by his father, Vincent J. McMahon. WWF was just a pro wrestling regional business that used to work as small divisional entities across the United States.
In 1982, Vince McMahon bought the company from his father and monopolized it as a single company. He took the regional business to a global level, making it a wrestling entertainment powerhouse. Its annual event, Wrestle Mania, which started in 1985, quickly gained international popularity and soon became one of the most successful wrestling events in the entire world.
During his time, he brought some wrestling legends to the industry, including Hulk Hogan, Big Scorr Hall, Mean Gene Okerlund, Rick Martel, and Kokina Maximus.
But McMahon soon began to face allegations on r*pe and s*x trafficking. He was also accused of paying hush money to former WWE employees. He faced harsh criticism from the media and public, which led to his final regulation from WWE.
As per a NBC News article dated April 17, 2024, Mark Shapiro, the president and chief operating officer of TKO Group Holdings, said that McMahon “doesn’t work for the company, doesn’t come into the office, and he’s not coming back to the company.”
McMahon is reportedly trying to maintain a normal life amidst all the investigations into the allegations against him. He has taken a retreat from the industry.
Mr. McMahon will premiere on September 25, 2024.
