All six episodes of Don't Come Home were released on Netflix on October 31, 2024. This Thai series begins by exploiting the quintessential elements of the horror genre. However, as the story progresses, the science fiction aspects come to the forefront.
Don't Come Home revolves around three characters: Varee, Min, and Panida. Their lives are interwoven not just because they are family members but also because their fates become intertwined due to the time travel machine that Panida invents.
The season finale comes with a twist that many may not have seen coming. It is revealed that Min, who is Varee’s daughter in Don't Come Home, is actually Varee. In other words, Min will grow up to be Varee, travel back in time, and be raised as Varee once again by Panida. Thus, Varee is stuck in a time loop.
The ending of the series sheds light on several other mysteries that run throughout the episodes.

Don't Come Home ending: Min is Varee
Don't Come Home starts by flirting with the horror genre, featuring multiple appearances of a shadowy ghost and an enigmatic masked girl. However, the plot takes a significant turn midway with the introduction of time travel. It is shown that Panida, Varee’s mother and Min’s grandmother, was successful in her quest to create a time travel machine, even though she could not fully figure out how it worked.
The machine, installed in the family's traditional home, gave rise to several anomalies throughout the house, creating portals in various locations. One such portal is located in the closet in Min’s room.
One night, Min is confronted by a shadowy, ghost-like figure as all the furniture in the room begins to levitate. Afraid, she hides in the closet, and unbeknownst to her, she gets teleported to the 1990s.
What happened in the 1990s?
Panida was a woman of science who preferred spending her time on experiments rather than with her little daughter Varee. That changed when her daughter and husband died in a car accident. Panida had already started experimenting with a time travel machine. Now grieving over the loss of her family, she resumed her experiments with renewed vigor in an attempt to meet her daughter once again.
As mentioned, the time travel machine was indeed a success, but it created certain anomalies. Thus, the Min from the present day gets teleported to the 1990s. Panida meets Min and starts bringing her up. This is where the complications start in Don't Come Home.
Varee also travels through time
While looking into her daughter’s closet, Varee steps inside and is teleported to the 1990s. When she sees Min and claims that she is Panida’s daughter, Panida is skeptical, as she has no way of knowing what her daughter will actually look like in the future.
Panida is furious when Varee claims that Min is her daughter and wants her back. The former imprisons Varee within the machine. However, after several unsuccessful attempts, Varee escapes.
Varee faces off against Panida
This is where the plot of Don't Come Home takes a startling turn. When Varee keeps demanding that Panida hand over Min to her, they get into a fight that culminates in Panida throwing Varee down from the passage to the ground floor. A chandelier falls on Varee’s face, burning it.
After this incident, Panida leaves with Min and goes to Bangkok. There, Panida brings up Min, naming her Varee. Years later, Varee marries and gives birth to a daughter named Min. After facing abuse from her husband, she comes to the ancestral home, where the cycle repeats all over again.

Who’s the ghost-like figure in Don't Come Home?
In a tragic turn of events, Varee dies at her own mother’s hands. Further, her face gets burned due to the impact of the falling chandelier. However, the series shows that her spirit lives on, looking for her daughter, who was snatched away from her.
Thus, Varee is the ghost-like figure who appears in the initial part of the series. It is she whom Min sees several times in the first episode. Varee’s spirit appears before Min on the fateful night when she steps into the closet.
The conclusion of the complicated plot of Don't Come Home reveals that Varee, Min, and the ghost-like figure are all the same person, depending on which stage of the time loop they are stuck in.

How is the truth finally revealed in Don't Come Home?
When Min goes missing in the present day, Varee instantly informs a policewoman named Fah. She comes and begins an investigation into it. Coincidentally, when Varee dies after taking the fall in the 1990s, it is Fah’s father, also a policeman in that period, who looks into the case.
In the present-day timeline of Don't Come Home, Min's DNA is collected, and it mysteriously matches the DNA collected from the dead body in the 1990s (Varee’s face is completely burnt by the chandelier and she is not recognized). Thus, the picture becomes clear to Fah.
Fah does not reveal her findings to anyone, knowing that nobody would believe her. She leaves the police force instead.
Don't Come Home is now streaming on Netflix.
