Netflix's Good Times brings an exciting twist to the beloved 1970s sitcom with an animated reboot featuring a stellar voice cast of Black actors. The original series, which aired on CBS from 1974 to 1979, made history as the first Black two-parent family sitcom and was praised for its humor and poignant portrayal of a working-class Black family's life.

The new animated series, created by Ranada Shepard and Carl Jones and co-executive produced by Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane and the late Norman Lear, aims to recreate the magic while addressing contemporary social issues.

It premiered on April 12, 2024, serving as a spiritual sequel to the original Good Times show. The show follows the fourth generation of the Evans family living in apartment 17C of a Chicago housing project.
