Netflix's One Hundred Years of Solitude: Full cast list explored

All episodes of One Hundred Years of Solitude, the upcoming Colombian magical realism series, will be released on Netflix on December 11, 2024. The series is based on the 1967 novel of the same name by Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez.

While the first season of the series will capture the first half of the book, a second season will be released at a later date to cover the second half of the source material. One Hundred Years of Solitude revolves around the various adventures and misadventures of the Buendía family across generations, and through this family, the story of a nation is also brought out.

The cast includes names like Claudio Cataño, Marco González, and Susana Morales, among others. Read on to learn more about the cast of the series.

One Hundred Years of Solitude: Cast members and the characters they play

1) Claudio Cataño as Colonel Aureliano Buendía

Born on December 29, 1984, Claudio is a Colombian actor, writer, and director famous for projects like Moria (2016), Virginia Casta (2017), and Thousand Fangs (2018). He portrays Colonel Aureliano Buendía in the upcoming series. He told Tudun on November 25, 2024, that it was “an honor and a risk” to bring the iconic character to life.

2) Marco González as José Arcadio Buendía

The patriarch of the Buendía family, José Arcadio Buendía, is played by Marco. José is credited with founding the fictional village of Macondo, where the story takes place. Marco González is known for his roles in works like La hora fría (2006), Manolito Gafotas (2004), and Hospital Central (2008), among others.

3) Susana Morales as Úrsula Iguarán

Susana portrays the matriarch of the family, Úrsula Iguarán. She is the wife and cousin to José Arcadio Buendía. In the book, she lives for over 100 years and guides the Buendía household through six of the seven generations mentioned in the novel. Susana Morales was previously seen in 7 Boxes (2012).

4) Ruggero Pasquarelli as Pietro Crespi

The Italian actor and singer Ruggero will play Pietro Crespi in One Hundred Years of Solitude. Crespi is a handsome Italian musician who runs a music school and installs the pianola in the Buendía house. Ruggero is known for his performance as Federico in the Argentine telenovela Violetta (2012–2015) and Matteo Balsano in Soy Luna (2016–2018).

5) Viña Machado as Pilar Ternera

Pilar is a local woman who came to Macondo to escape the man who had r*ped her. She becomes intimate with brothers Aureliano and José Arcadio and becomes the mother of their sons. Pilar can read the future with cards. The character is played by the Colombian model and actress Viña Machado. She previously acted in El Cartel (2010) and La Cacica (2017), among others.
