Netflix’s The Amazing Digital Circus: Everything we know so far

The Amazing Digital Circus is a dark comedy animated series set to premiere on Netflix on October 4, 2024. The show originated as a web series created by animator and composer Gooseworx and produced by Glitch Productions, which premiered on YouTube on 14 October 2023.

While the pilot and second episode have premiered on YouTube, all episodes from 3 to 9 will premiere simultaneously on both YouTube and Netflix.

The Amazing Digital Circus has already amassed a sizeable fandom since its YouTube debut, with a November 9, 2023, Forbes article reporting on how content creators were taking advantage of the animated series' success to draw attention to themselves.


The Amazing Digital Circus first aired on YouTube

The first two episodes of The Amazing Digital Circus aired on YouTube in October 2023 and May 2024. The series's producer, Glitch Productions, has an extensive presence on the video-sharing platform, with their channel views totaling over 1.1 billion and their uploads dating back to January 2018.

Aside from The Amazing Digital Circus, Glitch Productions has also gained popularity for Murder Drones, which premiered on 30 October 2021, with its synopsis stating that the show is about "cute little robots who murder each other for reasons." Murder Drones was created by Liam Vickers, with Kevin & Luke Lerdwichagul serving as its producers.

Other series produced under the Glitch Productions banner include Meta Runner, which first premiered in July 2019 on the SMG4 channel before shifting to the Glitch Productions channel for its second season, and Sunset Paradise, which premiered in March 2021.

The Amazing Digital Circus cast and characters

The Amazing Digital Circus follows the story of five people who get trapped in a virtual world and find themselves at the mercy of an erratic artificial intelligence that throws their lives into chaos.

Primary cast

  • Lizzie Freeman as Pomni, the main protagonist who's the most recent person to be trapped in the titular digital circus. She appears in the digital circus as a jester. Lizzie Freeman has gained prominence for her roles in Rent A Girlfriend, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, and Persona 3: Reload - Episode Aigis.
  • Alex Rochon as Caine, the circus ringmaster and erratic artificial intelligence who simply has a set of teeth instead of a head. Per series creator Gooseworx, Caine is based on AM from the short story "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream".
  • Michael Kovach as Jax, a prankster who loves messing with the other people trapped in the digital circus. He appears in the virtual world as a purple humanoid rabbit.
  • Amanda Hufford as Ragatha, who appears in a rag doll avatar and tries to maintain an optimistic outlook on the situation.
  • Marissa Lenti as Gaggle, who has a ribbon avatar and uses a comedy and tragedy mask to showcase her mood, depending on the situation.
  • Sean Chiplock as Kinger, a man who's been trapped in the digital circus longer than the others, and has grown paranoid as a consequence. His avatar is a king chess piece.
  • Ashley Nichols as Zoobie, an antisocial and prickly person who struggles to get along with others. Zoobie's avatar is a set of mix-and-match blocks.

Supporting cast

  • Elsie Lovelock as the queen of the pest-like Gloinks.
  • Vera Tan as Loolilalu, the princess of the Candy Canyon Kingdom.
  • Jack Hawkins as Gummigoo and Chad. Gummygoo is an alligator NPC, and Chad is Gummigoo's partner.
  • Hamish Plaggemars as Max, another one of Gummigoo's partners.
  • Lyle Rath as the Fudge Monster, a candy-made cannibal exiled from the Candy Canyon Kingdom.

The Amazing Digital Circus will air both on Netflix and YouTube starting on October 4, 2024.
