Netflix’s The Beast in Me: Everything we know so far

The Beast In Me is an upcoming Netflix miniseries starring Clare Danes and Matthew Rhys. The show stars Clare as Aggie Wiggs, an acclaimed author who's been struggling with writer's block because of the untimely death of her son.

However, that changes when she gets a new neighbor named Nile Jarvis, played by Matthew Rhys. There have been unsavory rumors regarding Nile ever since his wife disappeared, prompting Aggie to become curious. Having found her new muse, she proceeds to investigate the truth about Nile Jarvis and gets entangled in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.

The Beast In Me is created by Gabe Rotter, whose prior credits include writing and producing season 11 of The X Files and the novels Duck Duck Wally and The Human Bobby.

Howard Gordon, who worked on shows such as Criminal Minds and collaborated with Clare Danes on the 2011 Showtime series Homeland, is also involved in the miniseries. 20th Television is the production company behind this project.

The Beast In Me is scheduled to go under production sometime in September 2024. This collaboration between Netflix and 20th Television is their latest coproduction following Nobody Wants This, a romantic comedy starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.

Clare Danes plays the author Aggie Wiggs

Clare Danes is best known for her leading role as CIA Agent Carrie Matheson on Showtime's Homeland. She was the main character of the show throughout its eight-season run.

Before Homeland, she gained recognition for starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, in which she played Juliet alongside DiCaprio's Romeo.

Clare Danes also starred in HBO's biopic on Temple Grandin, which tells the story of an autistic innovator who revolutionized the field of cattle ranching and made the practice more humane.

More recently, she starred in the 2022 FX and Hulu series Fleishman Is in Trouble, which was an adaptation of the 2019 novel of the same name. In it, she played Dr. Toby Fleishman's ex-wife, who one day disappears on him, leaving their children behind with him.

Matthew Rhys plays the neighbor Nile Jarvis

Matthew Rhys is a Welsh actor who gained early recognition for playing Kevin Walker for five seasons of the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters. He then went on to star alongside Keri Russell in the Cold War-era espionage drama The Americans, which ran from 2013 to 2018.

His role in The Americans earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series the same year the show ended. In 2017, Matthew guest-starred on HBO's Girls in the sixth season episode "American B*tch."

He later took on another lead role in HBO's 2020 reboot of the Perry Mason series, starring as the titular Perry Mason, who'd previously been played by Raymond Burr in the iconic 1957 CBS series. Matthew Rhys will also be playing the role of George Carlin in the upcoming Columbia Pictures biopic of SNL, Saturday Night.
