Netflix's The Cage- Full list of cast explored

All five episodes of the French sports drama series The Cage were released on Netflix on November 8, 2024. The series follows the classic underdog story to show how Taylor Keita, an amateur MMA fighter, overcomes challenges to become a professional UFC fighter.

The antagonist, Ibrahim Ibara, the current welterweight division champion, provides the foil to Taylor's gritty and hard-working character. The numerous showdowns between the two form some of the best moments of The Cage.

The series has been directed by Franck Gastambide and David Krespine. Frank Gastabide also portrays the role of Boss in the series. Read on to learn more about the cast members of The Cage.

1) Melvin Boomer as Taylor

Boomer plays Taylor, the protagonist of the story. Taylor is a hard-working MMA fighter who aspires to become a professional one day. However, several challenges are thrown his way. His rivalry with Ibrahim pushes him to get better and better at his craft until he finally beats him at the end of the series and gets invited to participate in the UFC.

Taylor’s mother is indifferent to his success, while his friend Niko is jealous of it. He is quite fond of Boss, the coach who reluctantly decides to train him, taking his technique to the next level. Melvin Boomer was previously seen in shows like 66-5 (2023) and Reign Supreme (2022).

2) Bosh as Ibrahim

If Taylor is a rule-abiding, hard-working fighter, Ibrahim is the bully who will do whatever it takes to fetch an extra point. He has no notion of morality, going after his former coach, Boss, and hiring men to assault him gravely.

He is also an egoistic person who wants everyone to fear him. He has a history of abusing people, and Boss has visual proof of the same. By the end of The Cage, he is brought down from the pedestal thanks to the defeat at Taylor’s hands.

Formerly a member of rap groups like BLK and 78, Bosh gained popularity through the web series Dans le kartier released on YouTube in 2009.

3) Franck Gastambide as Boss

A gym trainer and coach, Boss initially has little time for Taylor. It is only after the latter takes on Ibrahim that Boss starts to train him. Under his tutelage, Taylor not only improves his fighting but also develops his confidence.

Boss is also deeply supportive and protective of Taylor. After he is sent to a coma thanks to an attack carried out by Ibrahim’s men, Taylor gives his all to ensure that he wins the fight against Ibrahim for Boss’ sake. An actor, director, and writer, Franck is known for projects like Taxi 5 (2018), Validé (2020), and Pattaya (2016).

4) Antoine Simony as Niko

Niko is a fellow MMA fighter who starts his journey with Taylor. As the latter becomes more and more famous, the former starts getting jealous. He also resents the fact that Elena, the girl who rejected him, falls in love with Taylor.

Niko mixes some pills in Taylor’s water at the end of The Cage. As a result, Taylor will fail the imminent drug test. The repercussions of Niko’s sabotage can be shown if there is a second season. Simony was previously seen in projects like Summer of 85 (2020) and Barbara (2017).

5) Camille de Sablet as Isabelle

Isabelle, Taylor’s mother, is a selfish woman who wants to exploit her son’s talents for financial gain. Her boyfriend, Régis, is party to her money-driven schemes. Together, they ask Taylor to give away one fight so they can win a bet.

A particular instance of selfishness concerning Isabelle stands out. She forces her son to make some quick money by fighting in the underground tournaments. Later on, it is discovered that the debts she talked about do not exist, and she just wants to use the money to settle elsewhere with Régis. Sablet was previously seen in the 2020 series Alex Hugo.
