After some months of anticipation around the show, the new trailer for A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is here, taking fans on a colorful, yet dangerous, ride through the world of teen drama and gruesome crimes. The first trailer for the famous YA novel's adaptation depicts Wednesday's breakout star Emma Myers as Pip Fitz-Amobi trying to solve a long-closed murder case amidst a growing atmosphere of terror and dread.

Just like Holly Jackson's beloved work of fiction of the same name, the upcoming series seems to embody a balance of fun and thrill, which would be especially appealing to fans of YA mysteries.

The upcoming series is set to premiere on Netflix on August 1, 2024.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder trailer: A tense thriller with the heart of YA fiction

The best part about adapting YA mysteries is getting the best of both worlds- an equal part of drama and thrill, alongside a fun and easygoing approach to even serious topics. This seems exactly the case with A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, which seemingly adapts the novel with all its tonalities and precession.

The trailer sees Myers' character jump into action, and slowly get obsessed with a cold case dating back five years, where Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. But like a select few others, Pip believes this is not the case and there could be many other suspects on the night of the murder, leading to a packed case full of twists and turns.

The official synopsis for the series reads:

"Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. Case closed. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it. But smart and single minded Pip Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure and she’s determined to prove it. And if Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth? The only issue is Sal is dead too, and there’s no one to clear his name. That is, until Pip teams up with Sal’s brother to prove his innocence."

Apart from a great storyline that has been adapted from one of the most successful pieces of YA fiction in recent years, the series also boasts a stellar cast that comprises many, many new and old stars.

The full cast of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder includes Zain Iqbal, Anna Maxwell Martin, Gary Beadle, Mathew Baynton, India Lillie Davies, Rahul Pattni, Henry Ashton, Mitu Panicucci, Orla Hill, Ephraim O.P. Sampson, Carla Woodcock, Yasmin Al-Khudhairi, Jessica Webber, Matthew Khan, Georgia Aaron, Oliver Wickham, Adam Astill, Annabel Mullion, Jude Morgan-Collie, Raiko Gohara, Asha Banks, and Yali Topol Margalith, among others.

Behind the scenes, Dolly Wells is directing the series with a script from Poppy Cogan. Florence Walker is producing, alongside Matthew Read, Matthew Bouch, Frith Tiplady, and many others.
