Apple TV+ drops trailer for its first German-language original Where's Wanda?

Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for Where's Wanda?, the first German-language television series from the streamer. The eight-episode dark comedy marks the first of a kind for Apple TV+, which has rapidly been expanding its slate throughout 2024. The series will be led by Emmy Award nominee Heike Makatsch, alongside many others.

The first trailer for the show, which was dropped in an Apple TV press release today, depicts a quirky attempt of two parents to find a missing girl called Wanda (Lea Drinda), who seemingly disappears on her way to school. The trailer seems to hint that there will be a good mix of comedy, drama, and mystery in this television series.

Where's Wanda is slated to premiere on October 2, 2024.


What is Where's Wanda? all about?

The upcoming German-language television show from Apple TV+ will revolve around desperate parents, Carlotta (Makatsch) and Dedo (Alex Stein), as they search the neighborhood for clues about their missing daughter. This search seems to have some hilarious set pieces scattered around, as depicted in the trailer.

As per the press release from Apple TV+, the series:

"tells the story of Dedo and Carlotta Klatt (Stein and Makatsch), who are desperate to locate their missing 17-year-old daughter Wanda (Drinda), who disappeared months ago without a trace. When the police fail to find her, the family takes matters into their own hands, obtaining surveillance devices with the help of their tech-savvy son Ole (Simon). Disguising themselves as employees of an electrical company, they bug first their neighborhood and then half their suburb, finding out that behind closed doors none of their neighbors are who they pretend to be."

Apart from the cast members mentioned above, the series will also star Kostja Ullmann, Harriet Herbig-Matten, Palina Rojinski, Leo Simon, and Nikeata Thompson. It will also feature Devid Striesow, Jasmin Shakeri, and Joachim Król.


The crew behind Where's Wanda?

The series is a production of UFA Fiction, a Fremantle company. It is helmed by Royal Television Society nominee Oliver Lansley, who serves as the creator, executive producer, and writer. He is joined by Nataly Kudiabor and Sebastian Werninger as executive producers.

Where's Wanda? is co-created and based on a story by Zoltan Spirandelli. Moreover, the acclaimed directorial team includes Christian Ditter, Tobi Baumann, and Facundo Scalerandi. Ditter also serves as one of the executive producers.


With an experienced set of cast and crew members and an intriguing premise, Where's Wanda? has all the elements to become a massive success. More details about the show are expected to arrive soon.
