Apple TV's Me is a unique family drama series combining coming-of-age themes with superhero action, offering a unique viewing experience for both children and parents alike. The story centers around Ben, a 12-year-old navigating his new life in a new town following his mother's remarriage.

Amidst typical adolescent challenges like bullying and school dances, Ben discovers that he has an extraordinary ability. With the support of his stepsister Max, Ben embarks on a journey of self-discovery, grappling with his newfound powers and personal identity.

Me is set to debut on Apple TV Plus on July 12, 2024, and ahead of its release, Lucian-River Chauhan and Abigail Pniowsky, who portray Ben and Max, respectively, shared their insights on making the series in an interview with Sneha Haldar from Sportskeeda.

The challenges of shooting Me: Abigail and River on their favorite scenes and stunt sequences

Me is a superhero story, and it is replete with stunt sequences and challenging scenes. Lucian-River Chauhan opened up about his experience shooting stunt scenes for the series, saying,

"I had so much fun doing it. Of course, it was new to me. I'd never done a true action sequence before involving me trying to fight somebody...that was really interesting...and the way that we filmed it was also something that was really unique. The rigging crew and the stunt crew, they really helped a lot in terms of making sure that I know what to do...and I learned a lot from them."

Commenting on a particularly challenging scene, River said,

"I would probably say the most challenging scene was the scene where I got thrown through a window... that was definitely new to me to sort of see all of the rigging crew get that done... and work with the blue screen for the first time, which was really interesting. I'd only ever worked with a green screen. I had a lot of fun getting a chance to learn the industry."

Talking about her most challenging scene, Abigail Pniowsky said:

"My most challenging scene was also probably my favorite scene that I shot. I won't give away too much, but I did have to play two people at the same time. So it was really interesting seeing how that was shot. And it was a little bit of a difficult process, but I thought that it was really awesome."

Abby dropped an intriguing hint regarding an exciting scene that viewers can expect from the upcoming Apple TV series by revealing that there might be some plot twists where the actor has to play two people at the same time.

Working together and having fun on the set

A kids' series, which is also a superhero story, invariably involves a lot of fun during filming. Talking about his incredible co-star, River said that he is happy to have had the chance to meet and work with Abigail and learn from her that one should not take the scenes too seriously. He said to her during the interview:

"You would always bring us back when we were too into a scene. You would crack a joke that would make us all laugh. It was great working with you. We had a lot of fun together. We would play a ton of games on set, like 007 and Chopsticks, and we would have arm wrestling challenges as well."

He continued:

"I sort of made it a thing to have a handshake with everyone...and so whenever we would see each other, I would just do the handshake. So yeah, working with Abby and, of course, the rest of the cast was pretty fun and incredible."

Abigail, too, was full of gratitude for her co-star, River. The duo plays Ben and Max, the two step-siblings.

In the series, Ben has a unique superpower that makes him a superhero. While he enjoys his abilities, Ben also has to carry out the responsibilities that come with being a superhero. Talking about his favorite superhero, River, who plays Ben, comments that it would indeed not hurt to have some superpowers like his favorite superhero:

"I really look up to the Flash as a superhero. And so I think to me, having his power would be so useful and really fun because you could just sort of pause time and get all the work that you need to do in a day done. Then after you could pause time and chill out, relax, play video games, watch TV, or whatever you want."

Abigail Pniowsky had different thoughts and said:

"I think that I would really like to have telekinesis... it could be really handy in day-to-day life...I mean, any superpower would be really cool. But personally, I think telekinesis is one of the coolest."
