Audiences young and old must tune in to Apple TV+ on January 24, 2025, once again. Eva the Owlet is back for its second season, with a great mix of entertainment and education.
Eva is an ambitious owlet with a penchant for journaling, who lives in a nocturnal world with her friends and family. In this Apple TV+ original, the owlet sometimes thinks too big, and learns a valuable lesson that helps her become a better creature of the night.
Sportskeeda was invited for a special chat with Emmy-Award-winning Executive Producer Jef Kaminsky. A passionate man, he remembered the work of the late Dr. John F. Evans fondly during the conversation.
Eva the Owlet on Apple TV+ was one of Dr. John F. Evans' final projects
As a part of the Changemakers initiative of Apple TV+, Dr. John F. Evans worked as the expressive writing expert on the series. His motive was always to help viewers of all ages garner a sense of belief in themselves.
Jef Kaminsky spoke about how Eva's anxiety could mirror that felt by young ones in today's society, and how the show could provide a means for youngsters to deal with this feeling:
"Well, I know that anxiety is certainly, from what I read, a bit of a crisis for kids. And hopefully what happens when you watch 'Eva The Owlet' is that you get some strategies for how to cope for some of those feelings that you're going through or you're experiencing," Kaminsky said.
Eva maintains a journal on the Apple TV+ original series, in which she writes down her worries and insecurities, and in time, triumphs as well. Kaminsky spoke about how much this was in line with Dr. Evans' work:
"You can identify them, you can write them down, you can think about them, you can decide what you might want to do as you move forward. Based on the work of Dr. John F. Evans, he would say that it's a great tool for handling anxiety in today's world."
At the same time, the Executive Director points out that he hopes that the messages are subtle and do not overpower the entertainment aspect of the show.
"Ideally, you're not noticing any lessons or any hard educational component. Because we want kids to just relax and have fun and enjoy the time that they are spending with the characters that hopefully they fall in love with. Ones we love," he stated.
Kaminsky hopes to make the world a better place through Eva the Owlet Season 2 on Apple TV+ and his other creative pursuits:
"Working with Apple TV+, we always have a change maker. We always want to elicit change in the world through these programs. That's why we do it. That's why I wake up and come to work everyday is so that we can hopefully make the world a better place with this medium."
Wholesome, fun, and educational, Eva the Owlet is entertainment for the whole family. Check out our interview from Season 1 here.
