Richard Gadd, who became a household name for OTT fans after his Netflix show Baby Reindeer, is set to return soon in a BBC and HBO co-production. Currently titled Lions, Gadd's upcoming show will reportedly follow two men and their complicated shared history in a story that spans decades.

Gadd originally worked as a comedian before adapting his real-life stalking incident into one of his specials. He later based a Netflix series on this special, which he created and starred in and was received with widespread acclaim.

Baby Reindeer shot to the top of the charts, making it one of the most successful releases of the year. Richard Gadd and any production company associated with him can be expected to recreate the success as the actor and creator embarks on a new path.

What will Richard Gadd's upcoming project be about?

One thing that set Gadd's initial work apart from most filmmakers around the world was his treatment of men and their psyche. The upcoming project will reportedly deal with something similar, going over a decades-long relationship between two brothers and the implications it has over the long period of time.

The official logline for the drama reads:

"When Niall’s estranged ‘brother’ Ruben shows up at his wedding, it leads to an explosion of violence that catapults us back through their lives..."

It continues:

"Spanning almost 40 years from the 1980s to the present day, this ambitious series will cover the highs and lows of the brothers’ relationship, from them meeting as teenagers to their falling out as adults — with all the good, bad, terrible, funny, angry, and challenging moments along the way."

It concludes:

"It will capture the wild energy of a changing city — a changing world, even — and try to get to the bottom of the difficult question… What does it mean to be a man?"

As of the latest reports, the series will be six episodes long and will be jointly produced between HBO and BBC.

The Baby Reindeer star also commented on the project via a statement he released. Richard Gadd said:

"Ordering an HBO boxset of The Sopranos, The Wire, or Oz and watching it from start to finish were some of the happiest moments of my childhood. Since then, it has always been a dream of mine to work with HBO and be part of their iconic roster of shows."

He further shared:

"I am so grateful to Francesca Orsi, Kara Buckley and Clint LaVigne for taking this chance on the show, and on Ruben and Niall too, who — despite growing up in a dead-end Scottish town — would be absolutely pinching themselves at this! I cannot wait to get started."

Since the first series Richard Gadd created was based on his own experiences and praised for its honesty in the treatment, it would be interesting to see how things turn out when the actor and comedian tries to approach something different.

Since there is still a long way to go for this series, currently titled Lions, a lot of details are still under wraps.
